I have been critical of the level of athletes that Hansons throw money at. I was wrong. The olympic trials were a stage for Hansons. I believe that the only positive stories at a national level that took place that day involved the Hansons-rooks program. Sell was inspirational. Briney was a shock. I also thought that Verran wouldn't be in the top 10. Great job fellas. It looks like we all should be looking to your group for the secrets. That kind of success is not luck. It is a well thought out plan.
I wish more people would admit they are wrong in here...Class post....I bet it didnt even hurt..!!
Brooks has been lucky as hell on this one. Hansons invest their lives in this project and Brooks jumps on the band wagon just before the Olympics. I don't think that the Brooks higher ups even realized what they were getting. The Hansons have the most grounded training philosophies in the United States and finally others are starting to catch on.
great job hansons............also like to congratulate wisconsin runner on their great weekend at xc
Hanson's has some guys that didn't perform as planned, but such is the marathon especially when you're pushing your limits. However they had Sell out there showing some real guts (too bad the tacticians kept behind him, what would have happened if he'd had some help?) and Briney demonstrating why our qualifying standards aren't ridiculously slow. Good job.
Nice job fellas, you were the story.
The Hanson's have no secrets. Their guys run twice a day and plenty of miles in a group setting and train hard the old fashioned way. 4th and 5th place and a 'try and steal' the race effort from Sell, it's got to be a success. The top 2 dominant NCAA runners, Browne was an outstanding college track guy. Hanson's runners are solid college guys (perhaps low 14s/29:30 types), and demonstrate that hard work and patience will breed success. Great effort guys.
Brian Sell, go on and win the 2008 trials
It was a pleasure to meet the Hanson's and the team.
They have a great thing going. I find it amazing that
a couple of dudes owning a running shop, with only
moderate support from outside sources, can totally
change the face of distance running in the USA.
Trent Briney is definitely the biggest news of the day,
and Brian Sell had the Biggest Balls In The State Of
Alabama on saturday.
