I have a question about volume to intensity ratio in correlation with "peaking". Lets say the big race (track 5k) is coming up. In order to peak should there be a significant drop in mileage in order to hit the next few key workouts with target goal intensity? Lets say I go from 80 mpw to 55-60 mpw hitting more speed and intenity during workouts (compared to before) but am significantly diminishing volume. Is this the correct way to peak? What is the ideal volume drop percentage? Should I even diminish volume? Most importantly, once I drop volume and significantly add intensity, how long can I hold this peak before I am physically not able to perform at the high level I desire due to decreased volume?
