Signed up for an expensive training run this weekend. Basically, a dress rehearsal for a PR attempt in 5 weeks. what's best way to approach this long training run? Goal time in 5 weeks is 2:49:59 (6:30/mile). PR=2:53 ~5 years ago. 24 mile steady pace long run 3 weeks ago at 6:45 pace, felt ok, ran out of calories, otherwise good run.
I was thinking running 20 miles at 7/mile then kicking in at around 6/mile for the last 6.2 for a time around 2:58.
Any other suggestions, maybe 7:15 for half, then MP (6:30) for the second half?
Dallas and Houston are the two marathons, FYI.
