did i just hear that Weldon has dropped out?
did i just hear that Weldon has dropped out?
yes
I for one would like to say that I am sorry to hear that wojo had a bad day. Running can be a real bizich sometimes. But I guess that is why we love it.
The world champs is only two years away, and then in two more years you be back at the ball again.
Even better, the Oly Trials for the 10,000 is only 4 months away.
Anyone else think Sell coulda held on for atleast 3rd if he hadn't taken off like he did(esp. with the wind)?
28:06, you never know?
With 2 4th place showings and the 3 guys ahead of him most likely running the marathon, Weldon has an EXCELLENT shot at the 10k. If he was not to make the marathon team, the best thing that could have happened for him was for Pepper, Meb and Browne to make it... and that's what happened. Now he has to contend with:
Kennedy
Abdi
Shay
and a slew of other young guys.
I think if he has a good day he can make it in the 10k. But it will most likly be a very tight race. There are a lot of very very fast guys in the 10k at this point. And if it is a race of speed then there is no way that guys who can not run like rabbits on fire are going to make the cut. But if some of the slower guys decided to make a pact and work as a group then wojo or Abbi should have no problems.
did you realy think wejo was going to do anything special at the trials.
keep on dreaming
Why do people insist on being d*cks on the message boards? In particular, what do you all get out of dissing Wejo? I mean, shit, the guy trains his ass off from what I understand, he runs this damn website, he's a nice guy, what's wrong with Wejo and others dreaming the Olympic Dream? Wejo running 2:12 and making the team was no less unlikely than Briney getting 4th in an 8-min PR...nobody expected it, but bet he and his teammates, family, and friends hoped it'd happen. So Nyariki and all you other haters - take your negativity and mean-spiritedness somewhere else. Maybe the Arena Football League has a message booard?
R U the same kolumbian konto who went kareening off of this board like a krybaby in 2003? If so, kindly kiss off a sekond time.
hash your mouth young men! wejo have all damn day to train like the top 3 guys. he doesnt have a full time job...so there is no excuse for him not to finsh the race. it seems to me that there is a trend here. everytime wejo run's with the big boys he never finish. i bet you his brother will come with all kinds of excuses.....i cant wait to hear then. 1)we know he is not injured,
2) we know it is not the shoes
3) He cant say it is because of work
the only thing i cant think of is sleep.
he got a media coverage from Dallas to pump himself up before the race.
Someone let me know when the excuses begin

I don't know the guy nor have a vested interest of any sort. However, you are seriously void of reason if you do not know the sport well enough to understand that a guy with a legitimate chance to make the US olympic team in the 10K, should drop out of a marathon when things are not going well. Why would the guy risk injury or at best jeopardize training to have the Gallowalker mentality finish medal? No excuse needed, sounds like an intelligent decision to me.
Nyariki,
Yours is the attitude of a small man, who will accomplish nothing in his life. When you die, no one will care.

How smart is that? a guy have a chance in a 10k but he runs a marathon
wow...
Wejo also dropped out of the Pan Am Games 10000 last year.

Not for me to judge. I would guess he ran because he thought he had a chance to finish high or took advantage of his qualifier to get more experience. But anyone who has ever raced at any level beyond local knows there is a time to make a decision with the mind instead of the fairy tale heart where you 'always finish'. I see this as one of those cases.
he saw at 11 miles he didn't have a chance. He's looking at the 10,000.

wejo looked cold & tight, not good. He was never in it really, just off the back for the most part. wejo did the right thing, he could make the 10K team for sureif he want's it bad enough!
