U.S. will be 2nd favorite in that group, a very good draw for us.

Perhaps Ghana or Australia in the second round for England.
USA might get Germany early on...
Easy group B for Argentina, with South Korea and Greece, plus Nigeria.
Haile looks just tiny compared to the other dudes.
England have beaten USA on their last three matches.
I don't see any non-European or non-South-American teams advance to the best of 16. Of course, there is always a surprise, but on paper it looks easy for them.
I don't know, USA have a good chance.

Also note that the host team has always gotten out of the first round.
At least two or three will, easily. USA, Mexico, Australia, all of the African teams are potential advancers. Euro teams dont' seem to do that well in WCs outside of Europe. I predict Brazil to win.
Mexico will "easily" beat France AND Uruguay? I don't know about that. Of course, I hope they do. But it seems a lot harder than this thread claims it to be.

Not my contention. I just think there are enough good teams outside of South America and Europe that several are almost guarenteed to advance (not specific teams, just overall). I think Group A w/ Mexico is the most balanced group, as I think a good case could be made for any of the four teams getting out. I'd list Mexico as 2nd favorite but there are no easy games in that group.
The US is going to get rocked by England. Talk about them bringing Defoe off the bench makes my head spin... especially if we don't get Gooch back 100%.
The US can definitely win their other two games and should advance, but getting soundly beaten by England in the first game could be a major buzzkill. Although they do seem to be a resilient bunch, especially after the Confederations Cup.
England barely beat Trinidad at the last world cup, and that was only because the cheat Crouch pulled Sancho's dreadlocks and held him back when he was on the point of scoring. US can beat England.
apparently you no nothing about soccer.Ghana will come out and so will nigera and cameroon.Algeria may make it as well.don't underestimate african home field advantage.

Agreed!
now here's the real question: which one of these dramatic pussies will take the biggest fake dive this time?
Since Renaldo is injured, I'm betting on one of the Italians.

I know: never underestimate the homefield advantage. But keep in mind that South Africa is by far the worst team in the world cup. In the (somewhat meaningless) fifa ranking, they are no.82 just in between Haiti and Qatar. The only reason they got the world cup is because the African continent never had it before and the other countries are either to poor or too unstable or both.
RSA should be by far the weakest team ever to host the world cup.
You guys are killng me...

They CAN, definitely, but England's front line is ridiculous. We give up a lot of good looks at the net, and England is full of finishers.
That being said, I like the draw, the US just has to take care of business in their other two games.
Germany, Argentina, and Brazil could all be knocked out in Round 1. Crazy!
