Not looking forward that Barringer girl's post-race interview:
"I wanted a competition and I knew I would have one, because girls are really strong, and I really RESPECT my competitors, but I was feeling good so I just went for it from the gun, and by the mile mark I couldn't hear anyone and I just didn't know how far they were behind me... blah blah blah... but I really enjoyed it, and to be honest I was surprised with just how big the margin of victory was, but I'm proud of myself and what I've achieved as a college student and although I hoped I could win, I didn't assume I would, because anything can happen on race day and I know just how strong those girls are and you never know who will cause an upset on the day."
We're getting closer to her post-race interview:
"This race is an ending point for a journey that's probably been longer than any other one I've taken - four and a half years. When I came to CU, I didn't tell Mark, 'I want to be an Olympian, I want to break a 4-minute mile, I want to hold several collegiate records.' I told him, 'I want to win a cross-country national championship.' I think there's some irony, maybe some fate, in the fact that I'm going to achieve what I came to do on my last race at CU. That's what I'm going in trying to do."
