Certainly the first of many road records to fall.

Pretty noteworthy considering Dibaba hadn't shown her typical form the last 15 months.
Here is the all-time list:

Was Paula's from a 20K or half-marathon?

*yawn* Letsrun doesn't care about women's running. Unless it's high school girls.
because the baby face assasin is simple the most beautiful and talented human to watch.
http://www.goldenleague.net/LRR09/news/newsid=54905.htmlIt was from Newcastle but the course has too much elevation change for any marks to be ratified.
African women will be faster than real americans..i.e. the white guys or native americans soon.
half of american "elite's" cannot beat dibaba.
Mary Keitany's Birmingham time was also not rectified, because of the same reason as Paula's. Mary's New Dehli intermediate time 2 weeks ago 46.40 was. Only needed to be rectified, Tirunesh her time is a improvement on the record of Mary.
While its a world record its less impressive than Mary Keitany who on 11 Oct 2009 ran a 1/2 marathon in Birmingham in 1:06:36 passing 15km in 46:51. I'm sure if both battled each other over a flat and fast 15km they both could notch between 45:55-46:10. Remember Keitany in another 1/2 marathon this year passed 10km in 30:09 and still ran her 3rd sub 1:07- Tirunesh vs Mary over 15km would be a dream battle!
Keitany is the queen of road racing
The old official record was Kayoko Fukushi's 46:55 en route the Marugame half marathon.
That was 30.39 on 10km, indeed impressive. Count Linet Masai (WR 10mile) and Linet Chepkurui into that same race and you can expect sub 46! @VIPAM; Mary ran (intermediate)a worldrecord in New Dehli (46.40) 2 weeks ago, flat course, so Tirunesh 15k is "only" an improvement of 12 seconds. Let alone that Nijmegen isn't flat at all (that's why it's named 7-hills race!), but start and finish at the same place.
This is a good day for women road racing!
Let's be realistic here. Jordan Hasay hasn't even run a 15k yet so it is kind of cheap to get excited about Dibaba's race. Jordan's workout 2 weeks ago translates to a 46:09 so let's give credit where credit is due.
Nice to see Dibaba getting back into shape... when Defar, Dibaba, Melkamu, and the rest of the Ethiopian crew move up to the marathon could we see Radcliffe's record go down?
15k isn't a half, isn't a whole marathon. As we say overhere; that's different music!
Will be interesting to see though if 2.15 (or at least <2.20) will be achieved by women again in the near future!
Wonder if they tested for drugs at the Jos Hermans 15k.
@ trollism; It is Jos Hermens and yes they do. Tirunesh isn't a Global Sports Communication (Jos his company) athlete. She is "still" with Mark Wetmore, her husband is with Jos.
Any result submitted for ratification as a world record must go through WADA-approved testing.
Even more impressive, her splits were 15:58, 15:25, 15:05!
oh my god, those are amazing splits on a hilly course. Respect to Dibaba!
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
