Vernon for the long course???
Vernon was impressive last weekend in his win. Wouldn't be surprised to see him take it.
Oxford to pull of shock victory lead home by Talbot and Thompson?
Wouldn't suprise me too much. I expect both of those runners to have strong showings, as both are possibilities for a medal. The real question will be their 3-4 men. St. Mary's is looking tough if they can put it together at the big meet. And, of course, L'borough will be the one to beat.
Individuals, I'm not as sure on that one. There seems to be about 10-15 runners who could get a medal.
Only team worth watching or supporting.......UWIC....and i will say in again .....UWIC....come on jonnies phillips army!!!
never underestimate tommy g!
K-man, Who are the 10-15 who could get a medal?
Johnnie Phillips' Army??? i thought that it was Stevie Waldron's Army now? He will lead UWIC, Robbie Bugden will follow him home. UWIC by the way will finish outside the top 5, maybe even outside the top 10 overall, they will have more luck on the track this year.
Oxford Uni wont even medal as a team! Sure, they have got 2 guys who on their day could both win it, they could even get 1-2.......but this wont help!
They are fresh from a sound thrashing at the hands of Cambridge University in the Varsity Match and i don't see where they have picked up since then. The Cambs team that beat them then included Baddeley and Hughes who had both been off ill/injured.....there could be another beating on the way for them as these two are at full fitness again now!
My prediction for Oxford is somewhere between 4th-10th place. Baddeley stands a good chance of top 5 for Cambridge.
Alex Hains & Chris Warburton will both have a stormer for Lboro.
Dave
Only one game in town: Andrew Lemoncello.
no way, he only just outsprinted old man quinn over 4k.....2 seconds in front! Come on, he will be lucky to hit top 5 at BUSA.
Is Tom Humphries eligible? is he at Lboro College? or Univ??
This is just off the top of my head. I'm sure I'm leaving out some good athletes. And I'm not 100% on the current fitness of the listed runners. I'm also including some people I know who have been training hard, and are probably more sentimental favorites of mine than actual favorites. But I think the list here will compromise a lot of the top 20 runners
Angus McClean
Nick Talbot
Chris Thompson
Matt Lole
Alex Hains
Chris Warburton
Andrew Lemoncello
Mark Hood
Andy Baddeley
D Webb
P Nicholls
Tom Bedford
Ben Hope
Steve Waldron
Dennis Fricks
Mark Draper
Steve Murphy
Matt Pierson
Steve Vernon
Andy Rayner
I'm not too clued up on whos at Uni these days so may have got some ex-students in here. I'll stick my neck out anyway and go for
1 Steve Vernon
2 Fraser Thompson
3 Matt Lole
4 Andrew Lemoncello
5 Nick Talbot
6 Chris Warburton
Is Mark Hood from Sunderland still at Uni? Hes running well and could be in the medals if he is still a student.
My guess for top ten in no particular order
Vernon, C Thompson, N Talbot, McClean, T Charland, S Jacobs, F Thompson, Lole, Baddeley, Haynes
Humphries Cannot run.
To tell you da truth I would prefer to be watching the race than running it as its gonna be hot!
I'd say the title will be decided between Chris Thompson and Steve Vernon and the bronze cud go to anyone of the following
Tom Sharland
Fraser Thompson
Matt Lole
Angus McClean
Andrew Lemoncello
Nick Talbot
If I'm gonna stick my neck out I'd say
1.C.Thompson
2.S.Vernon
3.M.Lole
As for the team I'd say Loughborough are still strong enough to hold off all challengers, Simms cud cause an upset but most likely second and Birmingham or Cambridge third
P.S Cheers for the shout out Banks, I'll do my best son
P.S.S Mr Vandenberg to take the B race
Not going to slate him as i think that he is a good guy, but Angus Mclean for BRONZE??????? Do you really believe this??? He is good on the track, but a totally unfullfilled talent so far. As for a 'full distance' xc outside of the Hampshire lge, hmmm, i just cant see it.
why has nobody mentioned Ed Jackson yet?
Tom Sharland, hmmm, dont think he will do much in this race, but is well capable of proving me wrong. I just think that as a first year, he will be up against a lot of experience and those guys will really know what a tough race it is. He hasn't been great against senior opposition this season, although looks as though his form is holding up ok.
Pete Kellie is at Notts with EJ, whats the rest of their team like??
St Mary's, they must be putting a good team in after all the hype that they have had this season. If they don't win it then their press officer should resign......
Is Chris Thompson running?
Where is Chris Bolt? He was at Bath, but i heard that he was off to the states? No results seen for ages? He was being coached by Julian Goater.....cant stand this guy! Is Bolt still running??
U aint nuttin but a hater man
I said that Sharland and Mclean are definite contenders and I stand by that
Mclean was second last year at the BUSA's last year, while Sharland 31st and 1st Europeam at the World Junior Cross, and your trying to tell me he doesn't know what a hard race is!
Fix up son, you better get you facts straight before you needlessly start hating on others!
Chris Bolt drives school busses now. Don't you read ur AW?
