At 22 miles you see jesus... at 24 miles you see mohammed... at 26 miles you see buddah... and at 28 miles you know you've gone too damned far.

What is so intolerant about what she said? Did you actually watch the interview? I did, and it was strictly something she said to be funny. If you have ever run a marathon, you would know that there is some truth to what she said -- wierd stuff happens that late in the race. It was meant as a joke, and people laughed. Lighten up a little.
The Oprah Web site has an "After the Show" video segment with Paula (about half way through).
Ms. Paula for sure looks like she's seen Jesus, she looks radiant, ethereal, beatifed. Sigh...
Speaking of Jesus' marathon potential, any of you ever hear that Bobby Bare song, "The Jogger" ?? If there are any other old-timers like me out there who enjoy country music, you've probably heard it. Great song, about a trucker who gets outrun by a, uh, "jogger" who turns out to be Jesus.
Sorry but I don't believe Radcliffe ran 2:14 off a schedule like that.

Yeah that is because she ran 2:17
Bravo Jerome. We need more of your type in EVERY country.
Live and let live
...on the contrary jerome. you my friend, typify the ignorant hypocrite american that the REST of the world get their bad impressions from. what really confuses me though, is how you stated "...america is so weak as a country.". I was under the impression that the US was the most powerful country in the world. Where have I been?
>>get off your lame ass high horse
where in my post did i seem condescending? i felt i was merely helping out the cause of those who may choose to practice a religion other than christianity (which, just so you know, represents a large portion of the population). i'm sure some of these people find themselves in front of the telly when oprah is on and felt alienated to some extent much by her statement...
-deekay - born and raised in a "good christian" household, wasn't afraid to "run" the less travelled path, saw other sides, made own decisions about what faith is.

Yes, I watched the interview. I have all respect for Oprah, but it was an ignorant and intolerant thing to say.

It would have to be "very" weird.
It was meant as a joke, and people laughed. Lighten up a little.
Kind of like, "hey regardless of your ethnicity you see a ____ hanging there at 22 miles ha ha ha."
Oh yeah, that lights me right up.
people need to lighten up as a whole.
Funny how Christians are supposed to take abuse and/or be respectful & open with other faiths but all other religions are to be treated with uber-respect while bashing Christians. And they're the hypocrits . . . . ? And why only bash Oprah? She's been open about her faith since day one; her comment really shouldn't suprise or offend anyone. She made a comment in jest, and Paula answered something like, "I didn't see Him but I knew he was with me/could feel Him all along." (that's not a direct quote, but it's super close). Funny how Oprah gets bashed for poking fun at her faith but no one seems the slightest bit offended by Paula's defending her faith (thank God).
You forgot L. Ron Hubbard, Joseph Smith, the WatchTower dude, the Korean Moonies, Shirley Mcclean, Mary Baker Eddy, and others. Is it ignorant to think that all these folks are major loonies?
Now that you picked my post apart piece by piece, can you please explain where the intolerence fits in? If someone worships as a Christian, why would they say anything different. Look intolerence up in the dictionary before you post again -- I think you are a little confused. She said something as a yuk-yuk joke on live TV. If it came out wrong to you, on behalf of Oprah I apologize.
And, for my second straight post -- lighten up.
Whatever floats your boat.
no, you twit, nowhere did anyone say that her choice in faith was wrong. we should respect anybody's choice to worship whatever.
the lies in her statement which insinuates that christianity is the one true religion. how can you not see that? maybe this wasn't the intended message, but regardless, this is how it came out.
