However, I do think it's important that you run a decent time if you're gonna represent your school like that. If I were not in shape to run at least 15-something I would think twice about wearing the singlet. You know, because people might not think much of it at the start line, but if you finish in 18:xx it'll make your school look bad....unless you're 40 years old.
I agree. There is something about running well and wearing your school gear. Similarly, if you went to a big time running school, you should be really really good in a road race to wear the gear. If you went to a no name school, the bar is a bit lower. I'd say it is appropriate if you would still be in your school's top 10 in xc. If not, you have to be at least 20 years out of school.
