I'm the proverbial 18 minute 5ker.
I'm the proverbial 18 minute 5ker.
I posted my slow time over on the other official 5k thread where everybody is super fast:
As fast as I can wrote:
19:15
I'm 27 and used to be fat. I lost a ton of weight and started running and have gotten faster and faster over the last couple of years. My 19:15 pr was in july at a small race (30-40 people) for my employer, and I won. I might as well have won the NYC marathon I was so pumped. It felt like I was traveling at the speed of light. I can't even imagine how some of you are running 1-2 minutes PER mile faster than me. Kudos. You guys are awesome.
There. Are you happy?
Is 'ukathleticscoach' really from the UK? He uses very bad grammar and has many spelling mistakes. Strange...
20:18 at age 50 - now 51 and have not raced a 5K in 2009 yet. My wife, 10 years younger than me, is faster. We have both observed that many people read forums & sites like these, but never comment as they consider themselves "non-runners" as their performance times are slow relative to more talented runners. Our Mizuno shoe rep summarized it well by saying, "Some people say 'I am a runner' while others less confident say 'I run.'"
Set my PR this year at age 40 ... 16:57.

Yes, and I've got the teeth to prove it.
What's your time? This isn't a naffing spelling b. Did you like the coloquilism? Look it up as I suspect you are slow in more areas than just running!
Now let's get back to the times.
18:02!
16:59
Interesting that my age-graded time of 15:40 is very close to the letsrun median
It's pretty believable that the avg on letsrun is in the 15's for 5km. we had two or three fresh/soph (high school) not run all summer, or in the freshman's case, never run before, and in only 2-3 months get down to 16:50'ish.
15:05, 1989. I remember thinking, "Great, I'm definitely going under 15 soon." No such luck.
15:07 on the track this past summer at US club track champs
16:19 on the track, after a 1500. The first and last 5k on the track I've run.
Just ran 14:54 last track season at 31 years of age. Before that I ran between 15:15 and 15:20's. Hope to lower it some more.
17:58....
2 PINTS OF GUINESS WITHIN AN HOUR BEFORE THE RACE... I WAS FLYIN MAN!!!
5KM = 17:58
10KM = 37 MIN FLAT
HALF = 1:23:16
FULL = 3:04:16 - BOSTON...
BEER MILE = 7:39
BREAKING 3 HOURS IN A WEEK IN HAMILTON... PUT THAT IN WRITING DUDES!
Track: 16:24
Road: 16:36
XC: 16:18 (a lot of people--self included--suspect that course was short)
15:37 5k
20:15 4 mile
New PR for me last saturday @ Oyster festival 5k on Long Island, NY (22:07) I'm feeling gratified...but not content...
Were you drunk when you posted this?
