Actually, as I read the article he was directly insurbordinate to his superior, and *that* was why he was asked to leave.
The chances of its happening were small, but suppose something bad (I don't even know what) had happened at a practice or meet, and the assistant was involved? Would the district's--this is a public school, right?--insurance cover the illegal-immigrant assistant? I seriously doubt it. The head coach's supervisor has to keep the good of the district (and the taxpayers who support it) in mind.
The supervisor told the head coach--three times--to keep the assistant away. No, it was NOT the supervisor's job to say anything to the assistant, when he saw him again; it was the head coach's job, which he refused to perform.
People who refuse to do their jobs tend to get canned. Whaddya know.
