how much better will Fernandez be next year? Is it reasonable to think that after a 13th at Wjr, while injured, he could make the jump to top 20 at senior's?

I do hope the U.S. team can win silver or bronze at world xc next year, I really do. I just don't think they can do it if Teg and Solinsky are on the team. Yes, they are both world class and still they are inconsistent with big egos. I shouldn't have to see races where Solinsky and Teg are pushing the pace against Africans who are better than them and have faster times. They need to know their place and progress from there. They only hurt their team by being cocky with pushing the pace without the talent or will power to back it up. I've seen many races where Solinsky takes over the lead only to get out sprinted by 3 or 4 guys at the end. Does it make sense now?
I'd hate to see Ritz or Rupp have a bad race at world xc, because they were sucked into a pace that's too fast in the beginning by a couple of guys who are just going to drop back towards the later stages of the race.
Your right about Symmond for the short term but in 2 or 3 years he could be world class at 12k xc with the training. He's already an excellent 1500m/mile runner, and well you already know what kind of damage he can do in the 800m
HAHAHAHAHA
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!! STEP RIGHT UP TO SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.....
Our replacement for the430miler.
Jebus Crispy you just might be the stupidest fucking idiot I have witnessed post on this board.
Uh oh, somebody skipped their medication today.
Don't be surprised if you see Lopez at USA XC this February. I have heard talk of it.

Mr. Stache.
You are smart and knowledgeable as has been evidenced by your posts many times in the past.
You can do better than this. And I don't mean more clever. Just less brutal.
I'm not sure what you mean by replacement for 4:30miler. Who runs 4:30 out of any of the runners I mentioned?
As for you calling me a stupid, f***ing idiot, everyone's entitled to their opinion. It's just like I'm entitled to mine about Solinsky and Teg. Their both duches!
Actually, I don't take any medication so I have no idea where you were going with that.
bryxc
I know your entitled to your own opinion; however, lay off of Teg and Solinsky. Teg did beat some Kenyans in the 5000m in which he ran 12:58 and anyone who say that isn't world class isn't very credible. No Solinsky hasn't put up those kind of times but he is improving and who to say a 13:12-13:17 type 5000m man can't be good in X-Country.
I think 2010 is the best chance (to grab a team medal other than Bronze) we have to get our top runners WHOEVER they think they are along with the established runners and field our BEST team for the X-Country Championships! It wouldn't hurt if Solinsky went to USA trials or John Doe if they made the team against the prementioned names then they deserve to be on the team! Forcing the pace against the Kenyans and Tedese isn't likely in X-Country so that isn't an issue.
ELITE U.S. Runners please target and run this upcoming World X-Country Championships. The following runners have already shown they can run with the Africans on the roads or track:
Bernard Lagat
Matt Teg
Dathan Ritz
Ryan Hall
Galen Rupp
great x-country runners who've notched notable pb this year
Mebrahtom Keflezighi
Abdi Abdirahman
and if anyone could beat those guys at the trials then they deserve to be on the team, which would be a MIGHTY darn good team!
You make a good point. I really don't want to be dogging Teg and he is legit and just sometimes inconsistent as most runners are. It's just that I saw him at a track meet in Arkansas a while back and asked him if he would sign a shirt I had from the meet and he just looked at me and walked off. Thats really why he is mentionef as a duche with Solinsky by me. Ill give them a break though. Solinsky I just don't like how he trys to push the pace and then always gets out kicked. I've seen it too many times and like I said he is a great runner just needs to know his place in the pack for now. XC is all about points and if he sits in the pack where he needs to be and runs 20 seconds faster than he would if he were to push that makes a big difference in how the team could do as far as points.
Bernard Lagat at 12k XC? I really don't think he'd be that good.

Ahh rookie mistake.....too much trolling too soon. The "disaster at the x-c meet" thread was a little over the top, but I bit. If you had waited a week or so to start up again, you might have pulled in some more people.
bryxcrunner,
You ARE the 4:30 miler! Don't deny it.
me, yeah I know that I am. I'm not denying that. That's also pretty decent for my age and its not even track season. I could end up running a faster mile than both Teg and Solinsky did in their soph year, and yes I did have a disaster xc meet and droped out of the race. I'm not denying any of that and I also never said that I think I can be the next guy on the wheaties box either. I don't know if I will be world class one day or not. I don't know what I want to do. I do follow xc somewhat even though I'm not on a team for it. It interests me.
Wasn't Bernard Lagat an All-American in the 10km NCAA X-Country Championship with a top 3 finish during his time at Washington State? He also did a double at mile/3000m as a collegian while training as a 1500m man so I'm sure he has more endurance now.
I, like many others feel that WXC is what we as a nation should target; is there anything tangible we can do to help make this happen?

Say that all Team USA members of the World XC team will get $50,000 for competing at Worlds, and create a bonus structure based on individual place and team placing to further insetivise the top runners in the US. If you did that, you'd see some really good races for those last spots.
There is a prize structure for the US X-Country trials; however, not as lucerative as some would hope. The thought of being a part of the first US team to grab a Silver Team Medal with an outside shot of Gold should be enough without adding more money.
Kenensia, Tadese, Tirunesh, Vivian C., Linet Masai, even legends Paul Tergat, Paula Radcliffe, Lynn Jennings, and John Ngugi showed that running X-Country could help tremendously later in the year for outdoor track.
lol, bryxcrunner is making you guys look silly.
very nice trolling bryx!
8.5/10
There's no $50k-per-team-member bonus for getting a team medal. The chances of finishing in the top spots are so slim and there are no gurantees, why not run the Mini Marathon, Gate River and Shamrock if you're looking for some longer races?
