Meb may very well currently be in top shape but he in no way has the talent Hall has and so, even on his best day he could not beat Hall's worst. Additionally, using HM tuneups is not the best way to gauge upcoming marathon performance, though one should note Hall also won his race.
Comments not necessary.

Seeing that Meb ran 1:01 in San Jose and Ryan Hall ran 101:52 in the Philadelphia Distance Run, I think Meb may just win the New York marathon and drop Hall like turd droppings from a pigeon
GREAT PREDICTION xxxrunnerxxx !
Vipam is bragging on his thread, but you are the one who called it. Nice job!

(Meb)... is not the same runner now. Ryan Hall should beat Meb with no problem... Meb is on the downside of his career and really should not challenge Ryan Hall at all... any confidence Meb might have from a race 5 years ago is just bogus and manufactured, and if he really is getting comfort from that, then he himself knows it's bunk
Flagpole: take your birdbrained bullshit and SHOVE IT UP YOUR UNEDUCATED ASS
I've always said from day one that Flagpole not only sucks poles, but is an idiot that couldn't think his way out of a fly-riddled shithouse on a hot summer day.
How do you like Dem Apples!!!!! Way to go Meb!!!!

I hope that Hall wins for one reason. Meb has never been capable of winning a marathon (even US only races). Meb is one of the slowest closers from 40k to the finish. This means that he will always lose if it comes down to a kick. He is living proof that a better 10 or 5k or 1500 has nothing to do with finishing speed in the marathon.
So if Meb beats Hall, neither will win the race outright. Therefore I want Hall to win.
Hahahahahahaha

Time to bump this NOW! EAT CROW FLAGPOLE!!!!!!!
Sir Lance,
You and some of the others here are pretty funny. The way you go on when I make an incorrect prediction really tells me that YOU couldn't handle being wrong ever. Makes no difference to me; I can handle being wrong...if not I wouldn't make any predictions (like most of you don't). I was wrong that Hall would beat Meb in New York. EASY to say, and this doesn't disappoint me though as I'm not a Hall fan or a Meb hater. It was just a prediction. I'm a bit surprised to see Meb win a major marathon as he is 34 and has never done it before...still not a super fast time, but definitely respectable for that course. So, way to go Meb.

ahhhh....... Why does that feel so friggin' good to read?!
(oh flagpole, you did a pretty good job admitting that, there were hardly any excuses. I am proud of you actually. But I do know you hate being wrong and love being right. Why? Because a) You are a human being, and b) I think it is even more in your nature to be that way than most. Witness all you endless boasting over right predictions, and backpedaling over wrong ones. But you took it like a "real man" this time, so good for you).
You should not post anything for the rest of the year. I think you owe it to the letsrun readers. We would all appreciate a break. Seriously, so give us one.
Come back in March.

Sir Lance,
I have a long history of admitting I was wrong when I am...I said so when Webb beat Ritz in a 10,000, when the Buckeyes lost to Florida, and when I've misunderstood something written by another poster here. You should not be proud of me for doing something that #1 I should do, and #2 I always do.
I do disagree that I ever backpedal over wrong predictions. I'd like to see an example of that...got one? You might just get me to admit I'm wrong again if in fact you do. Just because sometimes people say that I do that, it doesn't mean it's true.
I also disagree that I love being right and hate being wrong...and certainly not more than most. When I mention that I was right, I'm simply stating a fact. I was wrong in this case, so I also am simply stating a fact. I neither hate it nor love it...just passing on facts. I'm a very fact-oriented guy. That's hard for most to understand because most people are emotional with regard to decisions and interactions with others. I'm not that way...other than the positive emotions I have for The Lovely Mrs. Flagpole.
Pssst.....flagpole=skuj
