The course ran pretty much straight west to east, so a tailwind was very possible.

The 1st & 2nd place times are not bad, but unless the course was very hilly, the top guys running 47s and 48s for a USA Championship is not good. The average NCAA XC all-Amercian could have finished in the top 10.
gotcher and trafeh?
anyone have complete results?
The 10 mile course is pretty hilly.
Gotcher and Trafeh were both late scratches. DNS.

I would have expected a U.S. road championship for a specified distance to be run on a record-quality course. If it's just a straight-shot, point-to-point course, I wouldn't read much into the times.

Gotcher, like Bauhs, is running World Half next week.

Abdirahman won in 46:35. Meb split faster than that at San Jose
The weather conditions were perfect for racing. The course is point to point but hardly a straight shot from start to finish. There are a couple significant hills to deal with but the downhill at the end makes for a fun finish.

Props to ultrarunner Max King placing 6th, breaking 48 while getting some speed work in.
I'm disappointed that there was no real time race coverage. Puddy tat, you rascal!
Tweety Bird
This is a hard, slow course. The reason for the slow times is that there are some bad ass, long hills. At my best, I have been about 1:30 off of my 10 mile p.r. on the Twin Cities 10 mile course (51:00/49:30). Running in the 46's on that course is good work.
Ultra runner, Max King? I thought Max was a steepler, XC runner?
The weather was cool but it was humid (85%) I was sweating good by mile 2 in the marathon. I looked around and I wasn't the only one. I walked over to start of the 10 before the marathon. Pretty cool to see the elites, even for a 42 year old.
I'm guessing your 10-mile PR was at Broad Street in Philly?
He and Ben Bruce a jumped into the trail running scene to get some money. The went 1-2 at the "world champs" (rolls eyes) in Hawaii.

He'll be across the pond doing some small race on the 11th.
the guy ( Scott Bauhs) has maybe 2 brain cells.
If big bird isnt a chico state dude trying to stir up some s_it then id be seriously disappointed. Because I cant see any reason for someone to honestly believe scott bauhs is retarded. It boggles my mind.
actually, he and bruce jumped into trail running because they scored a free trip to hawaii. lucky dogs!
