No. Alan never ran under 4:10 for the 1600 at Coronado. He did run a 3:51 1500 in an open meet his senior year when he sat out his season at Coronado but, no, he never ran that fast. The El Paso mile record is 4:10 (4:09 1600) by Sergio Oaxaca of Bel Air.[quote]yeahok wrote:

kansas city suburb: 4:16 since 1969. There have been many others between 4:17 and 4:25 but the record is still intact. That time, done at the Kansas State meet for 2nd place got the guy a scholarship to Arkansas back then.

I thought Richey ran under 4:10, maybe 4:08. I could be wrong, or maybe thinking of it as a 1600.
My high school (the 4:11.6 from '78) bordered N.A.- Hampton Township.
I believe Butler HS also had a record around 4:11 or so from the same time period.
