You are a homo as in homosexual, you like men. One of your friends told me.
This must be one of the classic Letsrun threads: it's completely silly, totally absurd, and yet it contains some worthwhile messages.
However, I'm obliged to point out that "the truth" has some problems in reading comprehension in his native(?) language. If not, he must possess a selective and creative memory - and in either case I must strongly urge him to re-read the relevant chapter, "Lydiard is an exaggerator".
What Vasala (or his co-author) in fact writes is that Lydiard boasted on TV that he had (in rough translation from Finnish) "made runners out of the Finns" or "turned the Finns into runners" and that such Finnish runners as Virén, Kantanen, Väätäinen and Vasala had won medals and championships "under his guidance".
Vasala ends the passage in an ellipsis and lets the reader draw his own conclusions. FWIW he has earlier in the chapter described how he had to look up the word "exaggerator" (used of Arthur by runners who knew him) in the dictionary.
No I have not problems with my native language or have a selective and creative memory. If you re-read the chapter you will see that he greatly exaggerated=lied about his role behind Viren, Vasala, Vaatainen and Kantanen. After that what Arthur said in that interview, you thought that Lydiard was the coach of them all if you didn´t knew the truth.
By the way, I hate Helsinki too.
That "under his guidance" says it all.

I must continue that I wonder why you came here to call this thread like "completely silly, totally absurd"? Your post is just like that in my opinion because you try to take the opposite side with me and still what you wrote in your post is full of evidence that Arthur Lydiard did exaggerate, and that´s what I have preached here. So it seems that it´s YOU who has some problems in reading comprehension.
Yes -- this thread is full of twisted irony.
I think at this point "the truth" has been made self-evident. The naked truth has been exposed to all who dared to look.
Quoting an anonymous poster from way back on page 14, "I will not comment this from now on because there´s nothing more that I can or I should say."
Indeed, what more can be said on this topical, yet thoroughly exhausted issue?

Read the whole post before you throw those one-liners.
I wrote on page 14:
"Sorry but you are wrong again. You are too paranoidic and just can´t face the truth no matter how many times I say that I have written under 2 different nicknames here.
Here´s some thinking to you, that "first time in this thread" writes with so good english that I couldn´t do that. I have relatively small vocabulary in english. Also if I could, I know that wejo or rojo are commenting here sometimes and I believe that they can see where those posts have been coming. So if WEJO or ROJO is here, please stop this "white lie" dreams that he is wrong.
I´m from Finland and have been written only as a "the thruth" and as a "the truth:" Also, if you noticed the time of this writers post, in Finnish time it would be about 9-10pm, and at that time I have never written here, maybe once about 7-8pm in finnish time but not later.
I will not comment this from now on because there´s nothing more that I can or I should say."
So in that post I meant that I will not comment the subject about my nicknames in this thread. It seems that you also have problems in reading comprehension.
If this "thoroughly exhausted issue" then why you still continue reading and writing in this thread?
Ah, but then again, things are not always as they seem.Given the obvious clarity of the evidence before us, I simply mean there is nothing more "I" can or should say, as it has all been said. I cannot tell a lie. I found those are wise words, worth quoting.Surely, you agree?

I reread the chapter on you that says you are gay and that you like men. And another friend told me you like men as well.

The reason why you quoted me was based on misconception. So I don´t agree with you.
No it wasn't.

that finnish guy 'the truth' lacks some mental agility and has a strong dose of nationalism confusing him.
This "Under Guidance" phrase is probably not far enough. Those Finnish guys took his concepts and applied them fully and as such reaped the benefits.
Vasala was precision perfect in his bounding/hill work. His form on the track was about as good as anyone has ever had under fatigue. The photo of him and Keino coming of the final bend in Munich shows the differences between the two, even though Keino was quite special himself, Pekka was just too precise.
Viren took the idea of deepening the aerobic base to the extreme. The idea that westernised people had, through lifestyle, a diminished natural aerobic capacity and that this could be reversed over time with longer slower aerobic activity. Viren went deep, probably deeper than anyone else had gone. And the results were freakish.
The Finns with all their brilliance had gotten lost in interval world, in repetition world. Arthur showed them a little balance and the Finns did all the rest.
Could the Finns achieved that at that time without Arthur? No.
Could Arthur have done it elsewhere without the Finns? He didn't, except at home where he was in charge.
Thats how i see it.
