YOu guys are funny. This is a disfunctional guy who should've been a warden of the state a long time ago and will now be on trial for murder and you're making him out to be a hero. Typically Letsrun response, rallying behind the tough guy screwball because your all so tough yourself. And I bet all you guys drive lifted trucks, served in Iraq, and aer'nt afraid to unleash some gold old fashioned butt-kicking against the tennis team.
Hey f*ck face. I drive a lifted truck and I served in Iraq. Go crawl back into the hole you came from if you feel so inclined to insult the men who protect your freedome by placing their own lives on the line. I doubt a pssy like you could even pass boot camp. Go blow your dad. And I sure as hell would unleash some good old fashioned butt-kicking to you if I ever came accross your path. It sounds like your parents failed in teaching you respect.
Incidentally, the Johns Hopkins senior track/XC house is right across from where the incident occurred. Myself, I was awake during the incident and I did hear a female voice yell(likely a neighbor). I was pretty locked into the Raiders potentially pulling off the upset(I figured there was nothing happening anyhow), and I finally checked out the scene after the game(around 1:40~20 minutes after the incident). There was a fire truck, 7-8 cop cars and campus security lining the street. Didn't think much of it until we all found out around 11 AM the next morning. Wouldn't you know that a kid in our house just so happens to own his very own Samurai sword. Certainly, made for a very interesting last couple days. The buzz on campus is immense, and way overshadows what it was like when Obama was elected or anything else. The kid has taken on legendary status among the student body. Our neighborhood (locals & students) seems to be united in support of what he did(whether this is right or wrong). People were really getting fed up with petty criminals running free doing what they wanted without consequence.

But I guess if the guy had any common sense, he wouldn't have to rob people for a living.

So I guess you believe that a life of petty crime is the result of stellar decision making?

I agree, except that burglary is NOT a petty crime. Under the Maryland Criminal Code, burglary is a first degree felony punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment where, as here, the defendant "...did break and enter the dwelling house of [another] with the intent to commit [theft/a crime of violence] in violation of CR 6-202 of the Annotated Code of Maryland."
This guy is off his rocker and a threat to society. Hopefully our justice system will recognize this and place him in a padded room and under constant supervision.
Anybody who supprts this guy is a moron. This is the same reason dumb people love WWF. The dumb and moronic need a hero who can do what they wish they could do, defend themselves from bullies. Some kids wish to be scientist when they grow up. The dumb and picked-on wish they had a samuari sword to kill all the bullies.
Actually my prior post quoted the charging language, which tracks the criminal code. The crime of burglary is defined under Maryland Criminal Law § 6-202 as follows:
"(a) A person may not break and enter the dwelling of another with the intent to commit theft or a crime of violence.
(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of the felony of burglary in the first degree and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 20 years."
In any event, burglary is far from "petty crime" and the decision to do it is certainly not the product of stellar decision making.
Maybe "blue collar" would have been a better phrase than "petty." I initially just typed "a life of crime," but that would include organized crime leaders and Wall Street cheaters who, while no less reprehensible, are much more intelligent than a thug who robs homes.

If you truly did serve in Iraq, thank you for your service. And to all you liberal pansy ass liberals, this dude got what he deserved. Maybe if people were actually able to protect themselves and what they work for, incidents like this would not happen.

You obviously do not know how to protect yourself.

Actually, criminals who persistently violate the rights of others are the real threat to civil society. This kid stood up for society. On what legal basis would you deprive him of his liberty?
Calling people dumb and moronic is not an argument. It's merely the expression of your (understandable) emotional revulsion at brutal violence. Why don't you try to come up with an intellectual argument instead of an emotional one?

More sickening liberal love for the criminal, and desire to criminalize the victim/hero. But what can you expect from people who believe in the right to murder babies?

I support the student and I support a woman's right to choose.

That's her choice, she can deal with it. Quit telling other people how to live. I am against the idea of abortion and would encourage against it but in the end it shouldn't be my or your decision.

I'd say it ameliorated this situation quite effectively.
