Wisconsin Inter-Regional Invitational: 10/3/09

This looks like a fabulous meet with some of the top teams in the country.

I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

The alumni race is on as of 10/1...I'm running it

Solinsky, Bairu and Tegenkamp are supposed to be there, although Solinsky might not be too frisky since he is going to have his bachelor party Friday night.

I think that some of the guys are coming back from the 5th Ave Mile, and for the wedding stuff.

It will be a fall meet; the weather has cooled from last week's 70s into the 50s with some rain now through Friday night, then possible light rain Saturday. I hope it does not rain, as standing on the course for five hours in the rain will be a major pain.

On the guys side, it will be interesting to see what gtown has, I expect them to do well.

Interesting that theres a bunch of well known DI schools and then one DIII school in there.

Wisco should dominate at home. They're a top 5 team and they'll prove it in their opener. Georgetown will follow right behind, and it'll be good to see where their top guys are at. There will probably be a decent gap, and then its a toss-up between Arkansas and Syracuse. Syracuse is under the radar so far, but is a potential top 20 team if they can keep it together this year. Arkansas is #17 with good reason, they've got a ton of young talent, but with MacPhearson and the McClary's gone they need some guys to step up into leadership roles. Michigan is a bit of a mystery this season. They lost O'Lionard to FSU and Lex Williams to graduation, but Warhurst will find a way to get it done. They brought in a good recruiting class including two freshmen from New Zealand. Also, (not that it really matters, but its cool to note) Nick Willis is now assistant coaching under Warhurst. We'll see where that takes them. Auburn was probably the most overrated team in the pre-season poll. Losing Mecheso to OSU hurts them a ton, as they have a solid top 3, but nothing really remarkable behind that. I'm not sure who else is racing, but its gonna be a great race!
