After years of taking crap here for saying he would eventually have the AR in the 5,000 (the one in the 10,000 is on borrowed time), the time is finally here. Told you so. Told you so. Told you so.
The naysayers (MANY of you) said he didn't have the speed to do it, that he wasn't as tough as Kennedy, and on and on. I knew better. Sorry to gloat just a tad, but I deserve to.
In all fairness, I did actually call for a 13:11 in this race as I figured we should give him a little time with Salazar before going for those records, but I'm not shocked he did it. I've said all along he has it in him to do it, and I still say his ceiling is right around 12:50; dangerously close to that now eh?
You did indeed call this, Flagpole, several years ago. And you took an unbelievable amount of s--t for your claims.
My hat's off to you on this one. There's simply nothing to say.
You were right. The naysayers who mocked you were wrong.
Period.
good call flagpole. you definitely know your running stuff. i mean, ritz actually ran the 12:56, but you might as well have.
Guess what, Flagpole DOESN'T know his running stuff. Flagpole's just an anonymous know-it-all armed with some facts and several decent past performances. That's it. Beyond that he's an amateurish paper tiger. Could you imagine this guy detailing a training regimen for an elite athlete? How successful would that go? Could you even trust this guy with a high-level HIGHSCHOOLER? John Dye would spit in his general direction!
So no, he doesn't know his running stuff. He's just a vocal run-of-the-mill impotent letsrun clown.
Another thing, any 8-yr-old invalid could postulate "HEY that dude will one day run xx:xx just you see and wait and when it happens [gosh i HOPE it happens cause in truth im kinda guessing here], i expect you people to sing of my magnificence!"
Congrats are in order for RITZ, NOT FLAGPOLE

1) I never said I was the best COACH on the planet. I've actually had some bad coaching and would need to learn a lot before I could be a successful coach.
2) What I AM good at though is recognizing potential in runners. I correctly (and vociferously) called Ritz's potential out, and I was proven right. So, while all the props in the world SHOULD go to Ritz here, those here who are throwing some my way are correct to do so...not for helping him in any way to get there, but by so strongly defending his ability to do so.
3) Hey, I take crap when I'm wrong (Buckeyes losing to Florida, Webb beating Ritz in a 10,000). I also always graciously admit when I'm wrong. In this case though, I was NOT wrong...lots of other times I've been proven right too with other runners, so Sagarin can keep his "even a blind squirrel finds a nut" crap comment.
As good as I have been though at picking the performances of runners (some bad picks too of course), the best by far here is Vipam, and I will never be better than that guy.
I had a lot of work at the weekend so never got round to watching this meet. I never got the chance to check this page either.
I must say that was simply amazing to watch. Congrats to Ritz and his coaching team!!

I'm sorry the blind squirrel comment bothered you so much. It was really a generic comment meant for all of us. As I've often said, if we are right even 70% of the time in regards to anything, we are still WRONG 30% of the time. You are not the only one who admits when you are wrong, and you often fall short in giving credit where it's due as well, but that's ok. THE POINT is, there is no need to gloat. I was the first person here to congratulate you, and the first person to remind you that you had caveated your conviction in recent weeks just as soon as you got all self-righteous on us. No need for that, ever.
One more thing. Quit with the unadulterated love for USC crap as well. Your Buckeyes should have a great chance to take them down this year. They are starting a freshman QB. This is your best chance in quite some time.
He is definitely looking good for The Cup!!!
Sagarin and Flagpole are the same person.
Two sides of the same coin maybe, but definitely not the same person.

Retarded savage viking! Go dig up snow.
Whether you like it or not, KB owns the world including your little deep-freezer up on the north pole you call Scandinavia.

Its in the purity of Dathan Ritzenhein's blood. He is a pure blood Aryan Krieger, which is why you saw him take a 20 second chunk off of his PR. I hope that he has continued success and myself and the rest of the Volkskinder wish him well in his quest of slaying the evil African black dragons.
Hitler ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) Dude, considering all the crap I took regarding this prediction of mine, a simple "I told you so" is hardly going overboard with the gloating. I've actually been quite silent on it since Ritz broke that record.
2) I honestly did not remember that you won the March Madness thing though. I quit following that thread when it was clear I wasn't doing very well. Just lost interest...wasn't that I wasn't wanting to give anyone else props. Like I said the last time you brought this up...props for winning brother!
3) Good that your comment was meant for all of us, because while I don't know everything and certainly make my fair share of mistakes, I am FAR from a blind squirrel. I would bet though that blind squirrels actually don't fare too well in the wild.
You kind of missed my point Flag. I don't need the props. If I had needed them, I would have sought them out back in April. I just thought you were being disingenuous about it, but perhaps and quite probably that's MY bad.
Good on ya mate for your prescient Ritz prognostication (say it three times fast). I wish the altitude tent thing didn't bother me so much, because he's my favorite American distance runner, primarily because of his humility. I get the same sense from Chris Derrick, but I admittedly don't know the kid (I have met Ritz).

Heh, yeah. And Jos Hermens and Dr. Kostre, the head men for Ethiopia would never have their athletes use drugs... even though Hermens was a doper and Kostre was a full-time cog in the E. German Drug Machine. Hahahahaaaaahahaaaahahaaaa.
And Lagat wasn't let off because of politics. His test was a "false positive". HAhaahahahaaaa.

Exactly. Look at all the other "predictions" by this fraud that haven't panned out. He's as big a turd as Lancelot and some of the other shit for brains but act like know-it-alls at letsrun (although he's not as political as some of those bone smokers).
Does anyone have the 400 splits for Ritz's 12:56?
bang. I hit the nail.

1) That post of mine is a simple "I told you so". Well deserved after the crap I took for that prediction (when Ritz's PR was about 13:22 too I might add).
2) You won't have to wait until 2016 before the DOW is back to 14,000 (LATE 2007 by the way..October). It will happen sooner than that. BUT, it won't require an "I told you so" because I've said all along I don't care if it ever gets back there. I will have enough. Long term investing is where it's at brother.
sorry jackass but you backed off on your original convictions on ritz..
i or someone else can show the links that you changed your mind about ritz
freaking dumbass

No I didn't. Go ahead and find the post brother. I HAVE said (and I've said this all along) that he wouldn't break 13:00 if he stopped running it because he moved to the marathon (I mean how can you do it ifyou never run it?), but I never said I no longer thought he had the ability to break 13:00.
