I haven't ran in a long time. My last competitive season was 2004 and I've run sparingly since (last time I went for a jog was one year ago).
I wouldn't mind running again. Start with slow stuff, jogging, just doing it for fun, then eventually getting back into road racing (5km, 10km, half) and maybe some track races.
When I used to run I had some major problems: compartment syndrome, hip problems when running all out on 200 meter indoor tracks, sore arches, sore knees.
Therefore, I am wondering if running is good for a persons body. Will I have a much better chance of needing knee surgery, cartilage injections, hip replacement, cortison shots. Will running now reduce my enjoyment of life later on? What do the experts think.
