Okay. My family has a 2000 Dodge Caravan and a 2003 Toyota Corolla, both of which have digital readings. I just measured the route that I ran my tempo run on this morning, and the results were way off. Now, I have been told that using a car isn't the most accurate method, but this was on the road, and I'm not wheeling 6 miles. Anyway, my van measured 6.1, and the Toyota 5.9. Now, usually I am very laid back with the distance of my runs, but when it is a hard run, it concerns me. To me, there is a big difference between 5:47 and 5:38 pace.
Anybody else experience the same thing?
Also, the thing that I was thinking about was how far off the mileage on the cars are. I mean, say that the Dodge is accurate, and the Toyota is not, then .2 error for every 6 miles is a lot. So, that %error would result in my Toyota being 2095 miles off of the 65,000 that it reads (if I did that math right, probably not). Again, this is all assuming that the Dodge is accurate and the Toyota is not, which is probably not the case (they are probably both off a little).
