Who has the toughest CC region and a possible team getting screwed out of nationals? My vote goes to the Great Lakes region with 6 or 7 really solid teams. Any thoughts???

The South Central Region is by far the toughest region in the U.S. Case closed.
GL by far. As least when it comes to the number of competitive teams.
Should have 3 top 10 teams (Wisco, EMU, and CMU) + Indiana, UofM, Butler, MSU, OSU, and Notre Dame.
That is not too shabby!

No team really gets screwed out of nationals if they have the at-large wins, unless they lose to a "lesser" team at Regionals. If the top 8 teams in one region have more at-large wins than the 3rd place team in another, all 8 will go before that third.
The mountain region is extremely tough this year, as prenats definitely confirmed. Look at all the MT teams at the top of the field for prenats with the races combined (Mike Scott posted this combined result earlier, and its in XC XPress)...
Mountain region has
Colorado top 3
NAU top 5
Weber top 10
BYU top 10
Montana State 12th at prenats with blue & white combined
Colorado State
a couple others that might well be top 30 by nationals time.
All in all, a strong case for 6 teams from this region.
