Being off work gave me the time and sharing a vacation rental with 16 other people gave me the motivation to run 50+ miles this week. That total is a little deceptive, in that I shifted last week's long run to Monday, but still - it's a big jump. All my body parts seem to be holding up ok. This morning I ran 10+ miles in punishingly hot and humid conditions, and felt, if not great, no worse than you'd expect from running 10+ miles in punishingly hot and humid conditions.
My slacker's marathon training program is taking shape. I'm bumping my standard morning run up to 5-6 miles (had been more like 3-4), running 8 (to increase to 10) at marathon pace (whatever that turns out to be) once a week, and doing a long run of 10-18 miles. I'm going to continue to take one day off a week - I used to be a 7-day-a-week runner, but I think I've been benefiting from having one day completely off. (If only because it lets me get a bit more sleep.) I plan to use Crim (in two weeks) to gauge my marathon pace (I'm thinking 8:30-8:40), after which I'll start incorporating long repeats at MP-10 once a week. Whew.
Hope everyone's running well - or healing well, as the case may be. Track chick, I hope your surgery went well and you have a quick recovery.
