I've been an east coast boy my whole life. I've never even been to a high altitude location. I'll be going to a high altitude spot in Colorado in 5 days. What can I do in the next five days to help me survive and get the most out of my 8 day trip there?
I was hoping this would be a high mileage summer for me, but it has not worked out the way I planned. I have not been able to get over 40 mpw and the last two weeks in particular were not great. To prepare for this altitude, should I put in a week of hard work or should I not even bother and go to Colorado with fresh legs? Almost all of my runs are long slow distance. Should I do some longer runs this week or maybe hit the track and do some intervals?
