Wow- I'm surprised that she was the overall winner. Nice race! It seems like she exceeded her expectations.
It shouldn't surprise you that she was the overall winner, considering the RnR folks didn't bring in another elite runner, and most of the top Chicagoland guys didn't race. She looked great in the final miles, especially for doing 120 miles/week the past two weeks.
5th-best time in the world this year. Not bad, but with only 3 weeks to go was it too much? I guess we'll see.
They call it appearance money. When Italian runners were dominating they raced primarily in Italy because they got more appearnce money than the prize money available in the US.
Poor Chad Ware, or any US Sub-Elite, being 24 yrs old, feeling top of the world, 2:20 marathoner, and here comes along this girl and just handles you over 21K.
Nasty run by Kara!
chad ware is on jesus juice and kara is back on al sals good stuff after the US Champs. Yoder Begley had a sniff of it but KG is back tapping the keg.
I wouldn't call any male that could be beaten by a female runner sub-elite.

So a 2:17 marathoner isn't sub-elite? A 14:14 5k runner isn't sub elite?
If you knew what kind of work it took to run a 2:20 marathon at the age of 24 I'm sure your thoughts would change on what it means to be 'sub-elite'. Unfortnately, you never will - dream on and keep talking down to others who are putting in the work.
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Ryan Eiler, 3rd American man at Boston, almost out of nowhere
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
