So I am going to be a freshman in college this coming fall and I have been running really well so far this summer, but I just realized that I don't really have a plan for the rest of the summer yet, about 4 more weeks. I took two full weeks off after track. After that my mileage so far has been
39
51
63
67
75
75
80(this week)
So far ALL of my mileage has been in singles. I have been doing around 2 workouts a week (hills, mountain runs, 5 mile tempo, longer fartleks) and my easy day pace is usually around 6:30-7 but sometimes faster if I'm feeling good. My long run this week will be 15 miles.
So I need help planning the rest of the summer. I plan to drop back to 65ish next week as a rest week, but I'm not sure if I should just stay at 75-80 for the rest of the summer, or go up in mileage by adding doubles. Now I know most of you would just say to follow my coaches schedule, but my previous training under my high school coach was very different from the new schedule, and I guess I'm just wary of moving away from the type of training that has worked for me. I hit around 65 the summer before senior year xc under a program similar to what I am doing now. I ran 16:30, 4:30, and 9:50 last year. The college schedule consists of less mileage (around 60 right now) and 3 workouts a week, with a race every other week.
Sorry this is so long, but the only thing I have left to add is that I feel my training has been going great, but the only thing I am worried about is when I go to college. I feel i'll be dropping my mileage and starting more workouts as soon as I start training with the team.
Oh and its a d1 school that Ill have to try out for, so I really want to get into shape over the summer
