This is one of the sweetest Stadiums I have ever seen. I love it. I love lane 8 is right on the stands too. Great crowd so far.
The stadium looks kind of like Franklin Field.
I've run in Stockholm Stadion a couple times and it is really cool. Actually, comparing it to Franklin Field is pretty apt, minus the upper deck. It's basically the same stadium that was used in 1912 for the olympics. Watching the meet today made me wish i was there!
I feel bad for the Swedes as all their track stars are hurt or retiring. It's a shame because everyone in sweden really knows their track stars like Kluft, Wissman and Holm as they are all over the sports page. They managed a win in the pole vault tonight, but Mohamed falling in the steeple pretty much sums up the state of Swedish track and field. Even their imports can't really get it right lately.
Leo Manzano has got to have more DFLs than any guy I have ever seen. This dude is amazing one dy and absolutely sucks ass the next. For all of the shit webb gets he is not this bad in the head.
Note to LetsRun.com's Robert Johnson and Emory Mort:
"On a night where American sprint fans were more than a little nervous to watch Tyson Gay after his injury worries, Usain Bolt's only world rival showed he is ready to put on a sturdy defense of his Worlds title in Berlin with a wind-aided 9.79. In a relatively distant second was Asafa Powell ..."
Powell wasn't second in that race, he was third; Darvis Patton finished second.
Anyone look at all the start lists. DeeDee Trotter in the Bheat of the 400. Man that's got to hurt for her. With her old finishing speed, anyone know if she has ever tried the 800.
too whoever said US sucks in the steeple check the results. McAdams was the top non Kenyon.

mcadams is my boy, and he is keeping the US from embarrassment with his tough racing.
Kyle Alcorn is erasing all the work Mcadams does for the name of US steepling
It's a totally different event. You may as well suggest she run the 5000m.

It's not a totally different event. Plus her MO in the 400 was a strong finish. She's also a lanky women, her body style might help her be a good 800 runner, never know. Athletes aren't anchored to one event. It was just surprising to see her in a B heat of the 400.
It is totally different. No two events so close in distance are so different from one another than the 400m and 800m. First, I think she has too much FT to be a great 800m runner. Look at Vessey: former sprinter who is now the world leader at 800m, and she can't break 53. Second, it would be different if she were in high school or at a much earlier stage in her career and could direct her to higher volumes and more aerobic training. But that ship has sailed.Men who are successful 400m/800m runners are very, very hard to come by in the modern era. Juantorena and Everett were the exceptions to the rule. And most of those top 400m/800m women were from eastern block countries. Of course, you have someone like Jearl Miles-Clark, but I still think she's atypical, and not just in talent. Take 100 sub50 women and point them towards the 800m and I think only a handful would approach her success. Maybe DeeDee could be one of those few. But I don't think so, and I think she'd agree.

I'll enjoy watching Jenny vs. Sally for years to come. Big 12 rivals and friends taking to the pro level.

I think this would be more like contract work, as capital gains requires investment.
It would be whatever her tax bracket, plus social security (15%), until 250k or whatever it is. More like 40 or 50% all together, or 35% if she's already made a lot this year.
You and "mps" must live on another planet. Prize money would be considered income -- not capital gains.
FICA witholding is 7.65%% for everyone in the U.S. -- your employer pays an equal amount for all earned income. You pay FICA taxes on Payroll, but not on prize money. The breakdown of FICA is 6.2% for Social Security (Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance or OASDI) and 1.45% for Medicare.
Also, FICA contributions are halted after a certain income, $106,800 for 2009.
In any case your average tax rate is not 50% in America. Your marginal tax rate cannot be 50% either, because above $106,800 there you are not taxed that 7.65% so if your your state income tax was 7% (very high) and you made OVER $373,000 the highest marginal tax would be ~41%.
