Tom Brooks of the US broke 4 in Portalnd this year for his first sub 4. Tom is probably 32 or 33.
We need to stipulate sub-4:00/3:43 for this consideration.
I think you need to look up George Young. I believe he was 35 when he first broke 4.

i just want to say congrats to mark on this great accomplishment. he has been one of my coaches for the last two years, and it has been a privilige to get to train with him and watch him persevere to finally reach his goal. good job coach thompson!
