You can say what you want about the slow pace, but watch the race. AJ comes thru 400 in 70, you're right, but there was no one on her!

She ran almost 40 seconds for the first half and when she got a push, picked it up, so even worse than a 70s first lap. It was awful, word on the street was she was celebrating heavily the night before after her 800. Hard to confirm, but that was the word. She was terrible, these women deserved better, but the meet organizer didn't even want a rabbit here... Hmmmm.
Personally I love when rabbits screw up their assignmnets like this. It give much more value to elite athletes who are also front-runners.
Invite them and get a fast paced race without paying for a rabbit. As a meet promotor - ideal!
Instead of $1k for a couple of rabbits, give the elite front runner $500 more than the next meet to make sure they come to your meet.
I have heard from reliable sources that the rabbit for the ladies 1500 meter race in London was hired to dupe everyone into THINKING there was going to be a fast pace, when, in fact, the rabbit was given specific instructions to dictate a slow pace in an effort to give Dobriskey an (unfair) advantage in her effort to make the British team for Worlds.
All but two athletes (Dobriskey and Willard) were told that the pace was going out in a quick 2:07 - 2:08 half.
Whatever happened to fair play? If Twell and England do not make the British Team, I hope their coaches and agents raise bloody hell!
Anna Willard will be third women from US to crack 4min. 1500 today. . She got herself into the best time trial this season. No excuses for the English girls today.

I agree. And it's funny to hear competitors whine about slow rabbits as if they are prohibited from passing these people. I understand the disappointment when pre-race expectations are not met, but competitors need to take some responsibility for their own pacing choices and race tactics when collusive pacing arrangements don't work out.
The use of rabbits in world-class competition is very unfortunate, but difficult to control and difficult to reverse, especially since virtually all world records in distance events are now pacer-assisted.
Conspiracy theories are always sexy, but Twell needs to take some personal responsibility. She talks as if she was on the rabbit's heels the entire first two laps when in fact she seemed to be happy sitting in the middle of the pack. Like another poster pointed out, no one was even close to her.
