I don't remember the mileage per week specifically but the best season I ever had in college was when I was patient and had a nice slow buildup.
June- 40-55mi (5-6 days/wk)
July- 55-70mi (6 days/wk)
Aug.- 60-80mi (7 days/wk, started doubles)
Sept.- 70-90mi
Oct.- 60-80mi
Nov.- 50-70mi
I found personally that when I jumped up my mileage quickly in late May-early June and tried to hold it throughout the summer I felt stale and flat come the important races in late Oct./early November. In particular I remember one summer when I took less than a week off after track, then pretty much ran 90mi/wk until mid-September and had one of my worst seasons ever. As we all know though everyone's body responds quite differently to certain training programs.
