It's not just about scholarships. You have five years to use your four seasons of eligibility. If you don't compete for your school in one of the first four years you are "redshirting" to use your final year of eligibility in the fifth year. Just go to NCAA's website, letsrun is not the only site on the web you know. People can research this for themselves.
