I can tell the idiot who started this thread is just reiterating the nonsence they found off the internet that fits what they belive. If they actually did some research they'd know that
!!!!!THERE ARE LESS COWS NOW THAN THERE WERE 75 YEARS AGO!!!!
Better genetics have improved the milking capacity and meat capacity of cattle around today!
But all you idiot hippy-liberals wouldn't know that because you just read books and don't get any real world experience. Just go live in your bubble. If any of you grew up on a farm you would be more appreciative of where your food came from and the cheap price you get it for.
wrong
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_cows_are_there_in_the_worldand, your "improvement in genetics" is a really pleasant euphemism for describing the growth hormones, antibiotics, steroids, and inhumane breeding techniques that squeeze out way more production than the animals in question are designed to produce. with these modifications come consequences..... mad cow disease, foot/mouth disease, e.coli, increased pollution and runoff from massive factory farms, the as-yet-unknown effects on us from consuming all of these chemicals, a life of torture for sentient animals who have the same capacity for feeling fear and pain as dogs and cats do, a life of torture for the people who work in these industries (some of the lowest paid and most frequently injured).... and, to throw a bone to all you right-wingers, it's the industry with the most undocumented, illegal alien workers.
oh, and on a personal note, to respond to your claims.... i'm not a hippie, nonsense contains no "c's," believe has 3 "e's," and i come from a family of dairy farmers in upstate massachusetts, so i DO know what i'm talking about, k?
