I heard this too. She is also being paid a huge bonus for giving the opening speech at the Commanders Cup this year.

Calling bullshit.
However, I am willing to accept that the poster meant this as a joke.
Wow, you must really have a knack for these kinds of things!
Shoe companies give a premium for runners who actually race. When US long distance runners stop ducking the world, they will get paid accordingly. Lagat and even Webb have seen this truth.

Um when was the last time Wally Dixie raced?
He raced quite a bit before he got his contract (including running hurt at the NCAA's). I don't really see how this is an issue. He's a multiple olympic medalist. To show he doesn't deserve the money you would have to show a similarly situated distance runner who didn't receive the money.
To the contrary, you could argue that its many of these distance runners who don't deserve their contracts. How many US distance runners who aren't even in the top 20 in the world in their event have contracts. Compare that to our shot put guys who are similarly situated and don't even have endorsements.
Anyone who can win Olympic medals and give decent interviews will get a lot of money.
Most long-distance runners have the ability to do one but not both of these things.
Your hindsight is amazing! Remember Dix coming out of college? He was the shit. He ran 19.6something over 200m. He should be a millionaire. He was the best thing coming out of college and, if he were in one of the "big" sports he would have gotten paid as well (though a whole lot more!!).
trust my Dix has some strong stipulations in that contract its not sweet as u think
If the agent negociates the deal he is obviously entitled to the commission , thats what they are there for , r u as
sad as UK athletes who begrudge paying for anything ?
The $1 million dollar per year was contract through Nike.
I don't think this includes appearance fees and bonuses and race prizes.
