Lagat most likely because he wins most in-season meets. But Bekele will reign at Worlds and nut all over Lagat if Lagat trys the 5000.
If KB is willing to run fast, and the pace does work out to run 7:25, then he will win. Lagat is to old to hang onto a 7:25 3k. Lagat injuried or not at the olympics would have had to pr to beat Bekele there in the 5000. Basically Lagat can't hang onto a fast 3k/5k. He can in when they go in 7:35-38 or 13:10-20.

If I read the translation right, this article says the pacemakers are going at 7:25 pace.
I think that either Lagat wins by less than a second over Bekele in 7:33-7:35 or Bekele wins by a landslide in sub-7:30 with everyone else way back. It really depends on how fast KB is willing to run (or capable of running) to try to break Lagat in this race.

You do know that Lagat ran 13:02 for 5000 this year in NY right? he lost by a few tenths of a second to Micha Kogo and really it could of went either way, Kogo just outdipped him. If Lagat had to im betting he could run 12:55. Im doubtful that the race goes in 7:25. Every rabbited race Bekele has run this year has fallen off pace in the middle and plus 7:25 is Kennys pr and because he is rounding into form he is not ready to pr.

Bekele is leading with 1 to go and Lagat is primed to make his move. He looks over his shoulder and see's that drug testers have come to this meet and they are talking to Coach Li. Lagat pulls out at 200m and claims achilles injury. Skips Worlds and doesnt race again untill the millrose games where he wins for the eigth time.

i agree. solinsky has been on fire this year, but ar is a stretch. 7:33 if he doesn't die on last lap.
Solinsky went what? like 7:37-38 at pre off a slower pace? Im thinking 7:33 would be a great run for Solinsky which would also be a pr if im correct. As for Bekele and Lagat, I think Bekele will win. He seems very determined to win this jackpot.
whatever the outcome, it will be a good preview of whats to come in Berlin.

Lagat wont run a 7:31. If the pace comes out to be 7:31 then Lagat will loose. The only way Lagat is going to win is if the pace is 7:35+ and thats the ONLY way he will win. That doesnt mean he will win. Bekele is still capable of beating Lagat off a slow pace. Do you know what Bekele rounding into form is? Its still better then every single runner in the world at top form. He just ran a 12:56 and he didnt even press untill 100 to go so he could get the world lead, just because he can.
