If you can't run 15 miles at race pace TODAY, you have no business even thinking about running a marathon in 5 weeks.

Who r u to speak? Did u qualify for a wc?? Cabada will do the race and he will do fine, let it go already. He will still outrun all of you injured or not

Fernando is really hot or really just not running at all. This guy has a lot of talent but can not seem to stay healthy.
This was how Cabadass fared when he was healthy and in good shape. I hate to see what happens to a hurt Cabadass.
4 United States 7:15:00
21 Mbarak Kipkorir Hussein 2:23:04
23 Mike Morgan 2:23:28
32 Kyle O'Brien 2:28:28
50 Fernando Cabada Jr (2:35:48)

in fairness when cabada was healthy and in shape didnt he run a 2:12? and mbarek hussein has run 2:08 though he is battling father time now a battle everyone eventually loses.
that said the results you show are atrocious for a country of 300 million which has the most advanced technology, excellent training places for any kind of race.
i dont want to single out anyone who is tryiny their best, but as a country of 300 million with a good history in running, we should be able to send a team of 5, that can beat any countries womens team, , and the thing is we have good runners, who could contend for a team podium battle.
and for those that say are top runners are above the world championships (which does not make sense) i say why can ethiopia send tesgaye kebede and deriba merga andk kenya can send martin lel and robert cheruiyiot, i figure if guys like that can run the race, hall, ritzenhiem , sell, meb, abdi should not consider themselves above the race.
Dougie,
I am always amazed by your ignorance. You do realize that this was run in Osaka. That USA beat Ethiopia. That the race ran about 10 minutes slow. Take a look at the names of the leaders and check out how many sub 2:09 guys were in the field. More than in Beijing.
my mistake i forgot those championships weather conditions when kibet beat shami, i just dont know why we cant send a team of 5 marathoners who can run 2:12 or better at the world championships, it seemslike it happens a lot we send guys who run over 2:20 at a big championship when they are much better runners than that.
Doug,
I do not fault you for wanting team USA to be better. I'm on your side. But when you say things like "a country with the most advanced technology" you do realize that none, I mean NONE, of the guys on that team had advanced technology.
Look at the list. At the time, Cabada in Indiana; Mbarak on his own; Morgan and OBrien with the Hansons (the least scientifically based program in the US.)
Now Salazar and Schumaker, compliments of Nike, have that technology and money. But the rest of us 300 million do not. Do not forget that 99% of our "elite" distance runners live below the poverty line.
And by the way, if Cabada is hurt, he will give up his spot on the team. He is more gracious and wise than you think.
He HAS now in fact given up his spot. Cabada will not be running world champs.
so who takes his spot?
Eduardo Torres.
Now if only Jenkins has the balls to man up.

Hey, it's just his two bucks.

That would have been awesome! The U.S. would have taken the top five spots, by at least four minutes, since the winner ran 2:16. Surely, with our technology and population, that's not too much to ask.
Will Ed be able to train after his recent family tragedy? I would think it would be difficult to focus on training in a time like that?
Well here's some good news from Justin Young:
"Now I have Berlin approaching. It’s unlikely to be cold. It’s a flat course. Training has been going well. Very well. The last few weeks have been challenging: 20 mile run in the morning, followed by a 4 mile tempo in the evening. 12 mile tempo in 5:04 per mile, in some serious heat. 35×400 averaging 68’s, off 1 minute rest. Good quality. High volume. With the knowledge that I have earned, the fire I have walked through in the first 3 marathons, perhaps this could be a breakthrough – or perhaps it will be too windy or too tactical…Who really knows? It’s the marathon…"
Cabada needs a better coach ...period.Justin Young too much work ,he will not be where he hope's,sorry.

Cabada is not on the team any longer. And there is no reason to believe Young will not run well, especially looking at his training progression. You can follow it more closely on

bump
There is nothing to say. He was hurt and didn't seem to miss too much in Berlin. The funny part is he would have been 3rd for the US today even injured.
