The other thing that makes Letsrun threads predictable is that 90% of users are under the age of 18.

he runs too slow.
you are stupid.
all the kenyans and japanese marathoners run tons of easy slow mileage aside from their fast work.
bob kennedy said it was the biggest difference between american and kenyan training.
the no pain no gain mentality is retarded.
you can still benefit a lot from running 20milers at 6:30 - 7:30 mile pace. Dr. Peter Snell explained that the glycogen in slow twitch fibers is depleted in these long steady state runs, so the body activates the fast twitch fibers for glycogen. so you get to activate your fast twitch by doing long work.
all the top american coaches know this, its just the few idiots that don't know.

I think Oxford Hills and CraigMac need to relax and get off of Nate Jenkins D. You guys would probably be better runners if you stopped worrying about what hes doing. grow up
Actually, CraigMac is a pretty damn good runner in his own right.
Awesome finish at the Boilermaker 15K, as Ilsa Paulson caught him on the final climb!
Jenkins got beat by a guy from my hometown who runs 40mpw and takes 2 days off every week.
geez...
You all need to end this. He ran under 2:15:00 for the marathon and was 7th at the Olympic Trials..you all don't understand this cause your not elite yet you bash runners who have done things you all aspire to do or wish you could do. There are good days and bad days. It is very hard at the top. There are many factors going into a great performance and he is, I am sure, training through most of these races.
And he can no longer run that pace for a 15k. He needs to step aside NOW and allow someone more worthy to represent the USA at the WC.
I understand that he is a nice guy, but if he goes to Berlin and runs 2:30 or DNF, he is stealing a slot and hurting the teams chances. No one can say that it was just a bad race because he has had several of these.
Nate earned his spot on the World Champs team- it's his to keep. He is a class act and will represent the US well, off the course as well as on. Let's keep our petty jealousies to ourselves and support our American team. I'm sure there are other athletes who are struggling in their prep for Berlin, but they have chosen to do it more privately than Nate.

Yea, he earned it fair and square, but he did that almost 2 years ago. Let's be honest here, it ain't happening. This is not petty jealousy, just the truth.
Fair enough but if he runs 10 minutes slower than his qualifying time then he screwed the team.
HE NEEDS TO STOP RACING AND FOCUS ON TRAINING.
Why is this the hardest lesson to learn. Put away the ego, Nate.
Nate - I still love you bro. We all have hard patches and everybody struggles. You have put yourself out there more than most runners at your level and that's why you catch all this crap. Keep doing what you're doing and hopefully your body gets right very soon.
Now, mail me my keys and see what you can do about getting that poster to me. Hahaha...
