Weren't they supposed to be there?
Weren't they supposed to be there?
ummm, no I don't. That's why I asked. They were supposed to be there.
Um, according to whom? Some other gossiper on this site?
They had made a choice not to go.
They made a choice not to go because they didn't want to get embarrassed. They ran good against a weaker field at Roy Griak but if they would've ran today they would have gotten killed, and thier ranking would've fallen. Instead they stayed home and hope that thier last race will keep them ranked high enough. They do have two good front runners but they drop off after that, and that would've really killed them today. They probably would've been beat by Central and they couldn't allow that to happen, since then they'd be an disgrase in the MAC. It's a shame they chickened out, but I guess they'll get what's coming to them at MAC's and Great Lakes.
Didn't EMU put four guys ahead of Tristen at Griak? Thats pretty good for only having two good guys on their team.
EMU beat enough projected NCAA qualifiers at Griak to be almost a lock to qualify. They had little to gain by running at pre-nats.
In the unlikely event that CMU beats EMU at regionals, CMU's strong performance at pre-nats actually helps EMU's cause. As the previous post said, EMU put four runners in front of CMU's first at Griak, so it appears unlikely that they will be able to pull off the upset at either the MAC or regionals.
As for CMU's claim of five potential all-Americans, yes, it is possible. If they run conservatively, a 30:00ish 10K guy can get dragged along to a top 35 placing. A couple years ago, CMU had one of these, Ryan Watson. So many guys think they have to get out to have a chance (like Steve Crane) and run out of gas in the last 2K. If they run for scraps, most individual qualifiers have a shot at all-American.
why are you such a dork? check their schedule.
A meet being on their schedule doesn't mean they were "supposed" to be there. Nearly every school lists the NCAA champs on their schedules, too, but clearly not all are represented there. All schedules are tenative, Einstein.
