I'm not sure it was meant literally, and we don't know what the course was like. It says in his first book:-
"He covered 10 miles in three quarters of an hour..., an average of just over 4:30 to the mile, at the end of which he was sick"
Three quarters of an hour is not often a specific term. This was early '79. Even if it was 46 or 47 on a flat course, it's still impressive.
Geb is the 10 mile record holder I think at 44:24.
