Princeton men's distance class is incredible.
Holy moly, I guess so!
Say what you want about Princeton's distance crew in track (and I think they deserve a lot more credit than they've sometimes been given on this board), in cross-country they've consistently gotten the job done. Between their returners and newcomers, I wouldn't be surprised if they did again.
PRINCETON NEVER PREFORMS AS WELL AS THEY SHOULD. If this team is not top 10 in the country at 2011 xc nationals then they have not lived up to their high school billing. Who cares if they barely squeak over the ivy league teams? They have the talent to f***ing compete with the best. If only they would set their goals higher than a heps title and pull their heads out of their asses they may be able to accomplish something real.
Princeton has a young core of guys ready to make the jump onto the national stage. Even though I have only run for Princeton for one year, I have been told that the team dynamic has changed quite a bit just in the past three seasons. I can assure you that every member on the team will not give an inch while striving to reach our goals.
I just hope that these notions of underperforming will no longer be justifiable in the years to come.

Brian, I give props to you, as I do to everyone with the cojones to post under his real name. That said, I hope you don't get any grief from anyone (other posters, Princeton people, whomever) as a result.
I'm aware that many (most?) college teams now have a rule that forbids their athletes from posting on this site during the season...
Columbia's pack was very threatening last year, though like someone mentioned above, it takes a special day for that to happen and an off day of any single one of their runners will result in a much higher team score. With that being said, I think Princeton's depth and rising sophomore duo in Cabral and Leung will put them on top again. With everyone healthy I think Princeton should be a top 15 team in the nation, but unfortunately, as the the case is with many collegiate programs, injuries and other unfortunate mishaps have caused them to miss the national scene a couple years running now. Also, look to Harvard to turn some heads and pull off a top three finish.
Princeton
Columbia
Harvard
I agree with the Harvard comment, they could sneak in there or a top 3 with a couple low sticks.
Although it takes a special day Columbia had 10-11-12-14-15-16-20-24
I have heard that Jarrett will not be racing in a Harvard singlet this fall, but have yet to hear a confirmation of this rumor. He obviously factors in heavily when considering their position next year. With Dan/Chad as potential top 5 (or certainly top 10) runners, having him would rival any other top 3 in the league. They have a depth problem, which will be an even greater one with his absence, and I think will eliminate them from podium contention.

Harvard has not released their 2009 roster yet for either squad, so it's hard to say what kind of distance talent they have coming in. And even if Jarrett does come back, I question how quickly he can get back into racing shape.
Anywho: the National Club championships begin today. I scanned the entry listing and saw four Ivy names I knew:
Alex Pessala - hammer
Kate Cushing (Brown) - 800, 1500, DMR
Samyr Laine (Harvard) - triple jump
Jennifer Lee (Harvard) - 1500, DMR, 4x8 (note: she's a former teammate of mine who ran on the squad for her senior year only)
Good luck to all of them this weekend!

Also Dwaine Banton (Princeton) LJ
Tuan Wreh (Penn) TJ
George Abyad (Princeton) DT SP
Thanks Phil! Sorry I missed them in the initial viewing, but I figured there were more athletes competing than just the names I recognized.
brandon jarrett is no longer attending harvard, this is the truth.

Source?
Nerts--nothing much seems to be changing on the (obviously incomplete) Dyestat lists, so I guess we'll just have to wait for September to see whom the different Ivy schools have recruited.
Anyway, how's summer training going?
Harvard runners return to campus I think the 2nd week in August (maybe 3rd).

Stephen Harris Joins Track and Field Staff - gocrimson.com
Stephen Harris, the only four-time All-American in the decathlon for the University of Tennessee will join the Harvard track and field staff, director of track and field Jason Saretsky announced Monday. Harris will work primarily with the multis and vertical jumps.
"I am really excited to have Stephen Harris join our staff," Saretsky said of the hiring. "He is an accomplished athlete and coach, but more importantly he is a fantastic person. There is no question he will have an incredibly positive impact on our program, and I am eager for our student-athletes to have a chance to work with him."
Harris was the 2003 NCAA champion in the decathlon as a senior after placing fourth as a freshman, second as a sophomore and fourth as a junior. Harris, who was a two-time captain, broke Lawrence Johnson's program record in the decathlon as a freshman and was the SEC Freshman of the Year. The native of Norcross, Ga., was part of two NCAA team championships for the Volunteers; 2001 outdoors and 2002 indoors. While in Knoxville, Harris was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and participated in student government.
After graduating from Tennessee with a degree in history, Harris continued competing and taught social studies in Cleveland, Tenn. He was part of the USA team that competed in a dual meet against Germany in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005. He qualified and competed at the US Olympic Trials in 2004 and was fourth in the decathlon at the 2005 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. He has a lifetime best of 8,103 points in the decathlon.
From 2006-09 he taught social studies at Norcross High School and served as an assistant coach for the boys and girls track and field team. He was also an advisor to Model UN.
Harris has a personal fitness certificate and is a USATF Level I certified coach.
my guess for the top 15 without knowing newcomers.

"I’m excited to be a part of the distance team, but more excited to be a part of a team in transition. Over the next few years we can hopefully take Princeton not just to the top of the Ivy League, but to a national level."
Should be interesting to see how that goes.
