Has anyone heard what teams are going to be at Auburn tomorrow?
Has anyone heard what teams are going to be at Auburn tomorrow?
The Tigers will compete against SEC opponents Georgia, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Ole Miss. The University of Iowa, Clemson, Mercer, Akron, Stephen F. Austin and Southern Methodist, to name a few, will also participate in the meet.
Can someone please post results for this meet when available?
1. SMU
2. ???
3. Georgia
4. Auburn
SMU really dominated. They had two guys under 24 for 8k. Nice course, on Indina Pines Golf Trail, perfect racing weather.

What is this course like? Results were really fast.
anyone?
As a runner who was #6, the course was the fastest I have ever run, and I found it easy all the way!
Was the course a legit 8k or was it short?
The course was legitimately standard, and maybe abit longer. It was just a matter of using skill and testasterone to work through
Its definitely a fast course, the weather was great yesterday (went off at 8 am so sun was low, still pretty cool). Also pace was controlled, first mile was conservative (leaders 4:46 I believe). Also there are no hills, just humps and a few gradual inclines that cant really be called hills. Also, there was some serious course cutting in spots, on the cool down some of my teammates showed what they had cut off and what the guys in front of them had cut off and it was ridiculous. Farther back guys were cutting a good 100m or more off the 5th mile about 600-800 from the finish in an area that was back behind some trees. When the guys in front of you are cutting, you really got no choice. Plus the footing is excellent and you can get a good rhythem on the fairways. The course is probably about right distance wise, they've been running it a long time, with maybe some minor tweaks sometimes; its just conducive to fast times and there are so many guys to run with from 24 minutes to over 28.
This course produces results like this every year. I think the Auburn XC coach needs to ask the football team for money to buy a new measuring wheel. None of these runners will run these times on any other course.
Its seems that runners from UGA, VT, Clemson, etc ran 1:00-1:30 faster here than other courses.
it wasnt that fast last year at SEC's, so they obviously shortened the course up quite a bit! i think 5th at SEC's was kimeli in 24:22 or something like that, and he was 13th at nats, and theres no way in HELL that those SMU guys or especially scott shaw are sub 24 legit 8K guys. what a joke of a course
Compare the people who ran last year's race and this year's race. While conditions change, most who ran both years ran 35-40 seconds faster this year. And last year's field was much stronger (more ranked teams, Kimani, etc.). I'd have to echo the sentiment that the men's course was changed (perhaps they took the women's finish cut-off at about 600 meters out). The women's course looked just as short as ever (probably the same).
The course this year was longer than last year. The finish line was further down making for a longer straightaway to the finish. So the distance was longer. HOWEVER, people where definitely cutting the course in areas, but the lead group seem to follow the lines with no course cutting. Middle to back of the pack probably saved themselves 70-90 meters by cutting the course. So those guys would be faster than last year, but the lead group had a slightly longer course than last year. The SMU guys are for real. They where very impressive. I heard one of them is a 13:45 guy. The course is a great course for a rythem runner, no big hills, and nice gradual down hill slopes.
Don't know much else about SMU, but the way they ran at Auburn they should be a ranked team. Regional will be interesting for that team.
Virginia Tech's women really surprised everyone.
the course was measured 2 days before the meet, it was dead-on 8000m. but you can keep talkin about it, sounds like you guys have nothing better to do.
the finish straight was longer this year cuz the course was slightly different. just because one part is longer doesn't mean the whole thing is. ever think of that?
Its not that we have nothing better to do, its that it is a legitimate discussion. I'm sure you don't want to hear that it is short because you probably PRed by a minute and want to believe its for real. Don't take it so personal, if its short, its short.
Chris Fox is the best new coach in America. I say 3 years and we will see some top 5 showings at NCAA Champs in XC and Track.
New fan of Tigers here.
