hahah, the best hs meet in canada perhaps
nike outdoor nationals begs to differ
The Ontario meet has some pretty high quality runner usually. To name a few runners who participated there. Sullivan (sub four high school miler), Hood, Brunston, Mathieson (sub four high school miler), Greg Anderson (8 minute 3km in high school), Mike Woods (fast fast high school times), Nate Brennan (sub four high school miler). There are probably more great runners that came through that system.
there are only 11,410,046 people in ontario. how many in the USA - 300 million?
look at the ofsaa records (even without oac (grade 13) they rival all american highschool records, which i might had can be set outside of the highschool year.
almost every canadian thats in the ncaa comes from ontario. the reason, ontario has an excellent club system that develops athletes. american athletes develop in college.
That extra year is the biggest reason.

the whole point was not about population, it was primarily about which meet=best competition.
But if you want to compare records anyways:
http://ofsaa-kci.tripod.com/ofsbrec.htm- please tell me if this is correct, as far as I can see, none of these records have been broken in years?? as for comparing, the only record that seems to compare vs an American HSR is the 3000, but still is slightly off (I didn't bother checking field events, since I don't know squat about them really). Sprinting events are no where near close. State champions in states like TX or California alone are usually much faster than those records (for sprints).
Dave Reid and Marc Olesen to name a couple more ! I agree, OFSAA does normally produce great performances, and compared to US 300M, the middle distance times are not far off.
oac was discontinued about 6 years ago.
Up to date ofsaa records.
Ofsaa includes 3 qualifying rounds. you must be top 5 in county, then top 4 in portion of province, then top 4 in a larger regional portion of ontario. becuase of the enormity of the meet and qualification process it's one of the largest track meets in north america.
Considering the competitiveness of results with those of the entire us highschool meet (nike nationals) it's fair to say that this meet is as good or better than any other in north america. furthermore, spring begins in ontario in late march, giving about 10 weeks of outdoor training - compared to year around outdoor practice opportunities in many us states.

Why do they keep track of midget records?
