Winning the 5k/10k is never a joke, and you are underestimating the talent in both those races. On paper, Rupp should be able to win both, and it probably won't matter what tactics people use, or how the races go. But that doesn't mean that it will be easy, or he will win by 20 seconds or something.
Add the 1500 and he will jeopardize his results in the other two events. I am now sure how you figure he would be the favorite in any scenario, based on a year of running I would put Fernandez, Centro and Wheating as having a better shot than him ... and not in that order.
