According to the schedule, the mens 5,000 wont be on TV. That sucks hard.
History says they will tape it and if it is noteworthy play it(well snippettes of it anyway) on a future show.

History says the commentators will completely mistake one African for another and not correct the mistake until after the results are up on a big stadium screen because the commentators usually selected for these events know diddly squat about distance running, distance runners, and the nature of the sport.
Same thing happened in brussels in 2006 in the 10000m event in which Micah kogo ran 26.35 for a world leading time that year.

when was the last time gebremariam won a 5000 on the track in an international field? his pb 12:52 is from 2005, and his best times from each of the past 3 years were 13:36(2008), 13:10(2007), and 13:30(2006). he might be good in cross and the longer distances, but that doesn't mean he's going to come out blazing a fast 5000 in late spring. he'll be with the lead pack, but i don't think he'll be in contention for the win. not with wheels like lagat and longosiwa out there.
I'm not saying he will win, as i don't know what kind of shape he is in....but you have to be friggin kidding me?
2006 ran 27:03 in the 10k.(in may)
2007 ran 26:52 in the 10k! (in may)
2008 ran 27:20 in the 10k...obviously 1336 was not indicative of his ability, or 13:10 from the year before, or 13:30 from 2006.
Based off his WC win, and his history of running well early on, there is no basis for even quoting his 5k times from previous years. He's virtually split those tmes in 10k's in each of those years. If he's healthy he's in sub 13 shape. He's had injury problems which have been teh reason for those slow SB's at particular times in the year.
weak field
i would take a 7:30-3k runner over a 27:00-10k runner in a 5k race.

they have 2 boys nathaniel and musa age 3 and 1 who probably have genetics to be good runners.
gebremariam and kidane have more world xc medals than any couple in history.
Unfortunately for the boys, genetics, as we at LetsRun all know (especially people like "wellnow" and "skuj" ) play ABSOLUTELY NO ROLE in determining whether or not one is a good runner. At least that is what I have read many times on here.
Go Rono hope you represent NAIA well after dominating nationals last weekend

13:04.50 = NA allcomers record, bet bunnies paid to assult that so 8:15 @3000 would be expected.
That's 13:45 pace.
Only three Americans?
Looking forward to this.....what a good way to spice up the early season period.
