I'm very Happy for Wesley Korir.Even though he is Kenyan...it feels like I'm Supporting a Relative
omonous music plays, then goes to commercial
scuse my idiocies---I'm done.....
The race and its coverage has been very compelling.
Wesley Korir is running away. 1:02 at Carlsbad Half-M.
His PR prior to this was 2:13.
Wesley Korir wins the XXIV Los Angeles Marathon in 2:08:23
New Course Record
$40,000 sub-2:09 bonus
$100,000 Challenge Bonus
Also gets a new Honda sedan
$189,000 total win
he had a Korir day
Korir wins in 2:08:23. New CR.
Petrova beat Jefar.
Gobina second woman.
Well done Wesley Korir...you deserve it!!!
Think Chicago will let him start with the elites if he wants to run there this year?
I thought the coverage was quite good for a local tv station marathon coverage.
And I'm sitting at my PC working and watching the race, how cool is that? Thank you Universal Sports!
wow, this race was really compelling. The gender challenge ended up a lot closer than anyone expected thanks to a crazy negative split by the women. Korir was the only man to beat Petrova. The men split something like 1:03:35 at the half and then Korir must have gone 1:04:50 or so. The women were on only 2:28 pace at the half and finished at 2:26.

He said it was what God wanted and it was a miracle.
Now all you Ryan hall God haters have to shut up... priceless.
On the whole.............good coverage for the price I had to pay. This race won't have much of a history if they keep changing the course. The new owner wants to have the race start at Dodger Stadium (his) and end at the ocean. It's a real roll of the dice to have the race this in late May if they want to consider running comfort.

They've already stated that the race will be reverted back to March from now on.

How did that turn out? Did he end up getting money? What a race for him today, newly certified f***ing badass.
they just interviewed Rod Dixon who is involved with Youth Fitness in some way out in LA. Man, the guy looks great for pushing 60!
the course is uphill, slightly the last 1/2 with a 300 ft rise in elevation. Next year they are looking to come up with a faster course.
Where the hell were the sub 2:20 Americans? Funny how Kenya, Ethiopia and Eastern European women seem to have enough elite runners to spread around at most major meets but America? Forget it.
Wesley Korir is my friend. This is a man who was just an ordinary guy a few years ago.It just goes to show everything is possible with hardwork and self belief. That is why i believe anyone who is healthy and has the determination can reach the highest levels in athletics.
