The geese will thrive because nobody will eat them.
The green poop is good for the grass, but bad if you get it on your shoes and spread it everywhere.

There Should Be A Bounty On Canadians
Where I live, the DEC or USDA or someone covers their eggs in an oil that prevents the eggs from hatching. The reason that this is better than just destroying them is because then the mother will just lay more.
I just checked the Virginia regulations, a 25 day September season for resident geese with a bag limit of 10/day.
In addition farmers and others using land for commercial uses that are being harmed can apply for a permit for other measures to control them as well.
Learn to coexist with Geese. Have a Geese poop sandwich.
Amen brother. The geese are vile, repulsive, annoying creatures. There have been reports of them attacking walkers where I live. They will fly up and peck the back of walkers as they go by.
We, in Syracuse, hate them. (Not all of us, only about 74% of us)
My grandma and i were talking about how terrible they are the other day. I used to think it was cool to see them because they were so rare... If anyone can come up with the name of the person that started breeding these bastard animals post it here, preferably with their home address so i can take a big green crap of my own all over their front porch.

Do you live in Indianapolis?
No, next state east.
My brother had his GSD over and I told him to sic the dog on the geese. It was great, he almost got one before they took off and they did not come back. Only problem was the dog had a blast doing it then went after one of the swans. The swan is now missing some tail feathers and the neighbor is ticked off. His fat arse came rolling out of the house cursing and yelling and making threats.
I told him to put up a fence to keep the swans out of my yard and the geese out of his pond because I was going to be dog sitting and I would run the geese off every day. He kept on ranting so I threatened call the health department and bill him for the crap clean up. Hatfield and McCoy, 2009.
On a side note, who knew Flagpolious was an expert on finances AND migratory waterfowl? Nice diversity. I guess you know the MaGee Marsh like the back of your hand.
What's good for the goose.....

The biggest reason for the increase in CANADA Geese (and bald eagles and ospreys and many other birds too) is the ban on DDT.
Canada Geese were very abundant prior to the late 1950s, and they were severely diminished by the use of DDT.
By the way, do you know what you're supposed to say to Canada Geese? "How's it goin' eh?"
Silent Spring is eco-propaganda. Large parts of that book are stretching the truth (at best) and other parts are out and out lies.
You know what else banning DDT has increased the population of? Malaria carrying mosquitos. How many hundreds of thousands of people have died from a disease that DDT could have helped prevent?

I wasn't making a judgment call on whether the banning of DDT was right or not. Just saying that its banning IS the main cause in the resurgence of Canada Geese.
Twice a week I go to the park with a bag of bread and a tennis racket, just doing my part.
I am used to getting chased and hissed at by geese when I run, but this spring I witnessed a new phenomenan. There was a goose that would stand by the entrance to my employer's parking garage and one day it lunged toward my car. I honked and it started to back away. The next morning I see it lunging toward the car in front of me but this time the SOB starts pecking at the car door for like 20 seconds before giving up. They are pretty bold if they will attack a car...I didn't think they would go that far!
Are there documented cases of Mute Swans of known wild origin nesting in North America? That would be the deciding factor if they should be considered native or not.
There are plenty of other Eurasian species that will cross into NA and even be found in mixed flocks with NA relatives but they virtually never establish breeding populations.
There are exceptions but I don't think Mute Swans are one of them.
There are geese everywhere in New Jersey. They are here all season long. Be it 95 degrees or 5 below zero they stick around. They are pretty smart birds according to the park ranger, and have basic problem solving abilites and an amazing navigational memory. They have a top flight speed of 45mph, and can cruise all day at 30+mph. They have tremendous muscle strength, which also leads to horrible tough meat. Not even the homeless will eat them. You will rarely see any goose on a restaurant menu, and a Canada Geese will never appear on any menu.
There was an angry goose blocking the path during my half marathon race on Sunday. I think it felt really threatened by all the people running past on all sides, it looked ready to attack.
While we are at it, can the Canadians take their stupid quarters back too?
Pretty good article on Boston.com:
$24,000 for chasing geese around for a few hours a day? Seriously?

We should build a border fence to keep out the stupid Canadian Geese.
