I am slow. Too slow!
I have been running for about ten years. Started in my 30's after a misspent youth – quit college basketball team to party, followed the Grateful Dead, etc . . .
I think I may not be training hard enough. I have run between 1500 and 2200 miles a year but I am not seeing any real marked improvement. I’d run more but-for overuse leg/calf injuries.
I have a thousand questions but I’m gonna ask this basic one . . .
What should my AVERAGE heart rate be (generally/percentage) after each of the following run:
1. Long. 15 to 20 miles
2. Recovery. 5 miles
3. Easy. 5 to 10 miles
4. Tempo. 7 to 12 miles
I don’t think my heart rate has ever been over 70% of max on average for any run – EVER.
Just for the number geeks out there; Max: 203; Resting 50.
