That's a true story. A very well known, I'll say official, told me that story when he arrived back from the Games. And you can Ngeny's name. He was let off to keep a scandal from brewing, and to "protect" poor deprived Kenya, it being such a poor country and all. Boo hoo. There are lots of poor, third world countries, but certain countries and groups are favored for some reasons I don't know, and others I will not get into on this site. However, Kenyans, Ethiopians, Cubans for example, are routinely let off after being caught apparently - and lots of guys on the circuit know this and they'll tell you so in private. Other people, such as most Arab countries, most European countries, the Japanese for example, will get the axe if caught. This site is not the area to discuss the politics as they extend far beyond sports.

Ngeny was told to stay clean. He did, and he couldn't hang with the top runners anymore. So along came the car crash story.

People are only making a list of Moroccan-born drug cheats because out of the countries with a history of cheating, Morocco is the one currently in the headlines. If I were to rank countries based on prominent cheating I would say
1. Chinese "16 year-old" gymnasts
2. Cyclists from any nation
3. Every type of athlete in Russia
4. Every type of athlete in Greece
5 (tie). Throwers from Eastern Europe
5 (tie). Moroccan distance runners
5 (tie). American baseball players
5 (tie). American sprinters


I personally support keeping blood and urine samples virtually indefinitely because otherwise athletes from rich countries (i.e. the good old US of A) will always be able to pay the chemists enough to stay ahead of the tests. I think part of why athletes from eastern europe are caught so much is that not only do they cheat more, but due to financial reasons they aren't as good at cheating.

Well if you story is true it is your duty to reveal the officials name. Or are you part of the conspiracy bull theory!

I don't believe a word of your story but it lost all credibility when you posted that they would come down hard and look to bust Japanese. How many Japanese runners have come up positive?
