8th mile 4:40
8th mile 4:40
the guy doing the commentating on universal sports is pretty clueless......at 34:38 he says Ïm not sure if they have passed 7 miles yet" - i mean do the math buddy, they're clicking off 4:40 miles , think its safe to say they had passed 7 miles
8 miles in 36:59. 2 hour pace for 26.2!!
Ritz and Meb: 2:05 low pace at 10 k. Dangerous.
I wonder how many in the lead pack thinking, "oh oh ... I should have not gone out this fast"
Wanjiru's looking excellent. Right on the heels of the pacers.
When Geb set the WR in Berlin last year, the time at 10km was 29:50. This is now a minute and twenty faster. Crazy.
I reckon they'll run a 2:06 something, but with an enormous positive split. Most of the guys in that lead group are running within a minute of the 21km PB - they're on course to hit halfway in 60:20 or thereabouts...!
If they keep this up to the half, then this is going to be incredible. They could go through well under 61 at this rate.
Women 1:24:09 at 25k (2:21 high pace)...second pack 90 seconds back

Sadly, this coverage kicks the crap out of Larry Rawson's Boston Marathon blather.
After seeing Wanjiru(sp?) in the Olympics.. anything is possible.. we just may see a new WR
Wanjiru seems to do well when it's hot, and it's not exactly blistering here but higher than what most people enjoy
WOmen through 25km. Men on course for a sub-2:01, which I think it's safe to say won't happen. But who knows, maybe they hang on for a 2:03 time?
Splits here

Also, funny how the commentator earlier said "Tadese" correctly, and then actually stopped, corrected himself and then pronounced it incorrectly...
Crazy pace
I bet you after the women finish, they will be interviewing the top finishers and still won't be showing the men
Men through 15k in 43:12 (50 seconds better than Geb's WR 15k split)
Slowing down a little. 15k in 43:12.
Zhou dropped in the women's race...wasn't expecting that!
Very compelling stuff, both races well worth the 4 AM wake up.
