Three Sub 2:10 for Americans in a Year a Record
Congrats
No it's not.
Thanks to Luketherunner for this thread!
I have no idea how the race turned out as there are no results on the site, so I'm reading the thread to find out.
Thanks letsrun for this narrative! It might be better than watching the actual race based on your reviews of the announcers.
Ritz, that's pretty disappointing... Meb is still the man though, I didn't see one interview with him and yet he comes out and destroys Mr. "2:06-2:07 by next year" Ritz. He probably got blisters or something, right? American distance runners and their coaches are so full of it.
Great running in spite of the ridiculous pacing for both fields. There could have been 3 runners under 2:04 today with good pacing.
What happened to the women? No mention of who won or got 2nd or 3rd. I like to see the play by play for both races.
Anyway thanks for the thread.

Women's race was really boring. Mikitenko was in full control of the race at any point. From the start I didn't have the slightest doubt she'd win comfortably.
However, great performance by Yamauchi. She took almost two minutes off her PB. That second place was well deserved.

The boring thing was stupid comments by ignorant people.
Oh, come on. In the end there wre huge gaps between first, second and third place. After 10k it was clear already nobody could touch Mikitenko. I was happy that she won as I'm a big fan of her and all. And Yamauchi ran a great race, too. But it wasn't exciting at all compared to Wanjiru and Kebede battling in the final kilometres, let alone the insane pace in the first half.
Sad. 13th place was over 2:15, which would not have even been top 20 Brit in the early '80's
